William Alvia LEDINGTON
A Soldiers Last Roll Call
One more old soldier has passed away after many years of suffering. He served his country 8 years and 1 month in a Kansas regiment.
William LEDINGTON was born in March 1828 and died November 30th, 1910, aged 82 years and 9 months.
He came to Oklahoma in the settling of this county, taking a claim in section 11, Cedar township, in Logan county, and had lived there ever since. His companion had gone on before him.
He leaves four daughters and two sons, 29 grand-children and 13 great grand-children.
There were present 2 daughters, 2 sons, 19 grand-children and 5 great grand- children at the funeral, which was preached at his home by the writer, and the remains were taken to the Crescent Cemetery and there paid our last respects to the one faithful soldier.
Submitters Note: William's grand-daughter, Dorothy Ledington Anderson, states that the birth year is wrong. She says he was born in 1832.

Sarah C. MURRY HATFIELD -was born in Illinois in 1829. Died at her home in Crescent March 30th, 1912, having attained the age of 88 years, 8 months, and 5 days.
Was united in marriage to Chas. HATFIELD in June 1855. To this union was born 12 children, 5 sons and 7 daughters, 5 having preceded her in death.
Those present at the funeral was J.D. HATFIELD, of Mil, MO., Mrs. Ivan SMITH, of McCloud, OK, Mrs. J.H. JOHNSON of Coffeyville, Kan., Mrs. Lucy MAZE, of Blackwell, OK., Mrs.Ella HEMSTREET of Guthrie, OK., and Mrs. Wm. MONDY, Stillwater, OK.
She was a good wife and a loving mother. She confessed her faith and hope in Christ, and many times said "Take me as I am, Oh Lord"."

M.L. OZBUN, was born in Green Co. Ill. Dec. 8, 1884. Died March 17, 1912.
He was married to Mary POST, Oct. 14, 1862. To this union was born one son and four daughters. The wife and four daughters survive.
They moved to Johnson Co. Kansas in Feb. 22, 1867 resided there until Mar. 16, 1892 when they moved to Oregon where they resided until Oct. 1894 when they returned to Kansas and remained until 1908 when they moved to Okla. where they resided until Feb. 22, 1911 when they moved near Olivet, Kan. where he died and his remains were laid to rest in Olathe cemetery.

May 9, 1913

Daniel Jesse HOISINGTON, son of Jesse and Clara HOISINGTON, was born in Iowa July 20, 1861 and was married to Mary HATFIELD Oct. 22, 1882, and died May 1, 1913, aged 51 years, 10 months and 1 day. leaving a wife and aged mother, 10 children - 5 sons ( one of whom preceded him in death), and 5 daughters, 5 brothers, and 1 sister, and a host of neighbors to mourn his departure.
He was a good man and will be greatly missed. He trusted in Jesus and said he was going home.

Clifford JONES-little son of Mr. and Mrs. Harldy JONES, died Monday afternoon from the effect of having swallowed some lye which he accidentally got hold of at some time Saturday, Medical aid was hastily summoned as soon as the child's condition was known and all medical skill and loving hearts could do was done to ???? the suffering and save the life of the little fellow but without avail and he passed away at the time above stated.
Clifford was born in Saline Co., Kansas, July 9th 1911 and died at his home near Crescent on May 9th, 1913, aged 1 year, 9 months, and ? days. He leaves to mourn, his parents and two brothers, besides other relatives.
Funeral services were conducted from the family home on Tuesday and remains laid to rest at the Knowles cemetery.

Solomon BURNS-was born in Marshall Co. Indiana August 30, 1847 and died at his home near Crescent May 1913 having reached the age of 65 years, 6 months and 2 days.
In 1886 deceased was united in marriage with Martha PHILLIPS and to this union was born five children, Lewis BURNS of Hillsdale, OK, Mrs Sadie RICE of Crescent, Forest D. BURNS of Covington, OK, Mrs. Myrtle PARRENT of Los Angeles, California, and Robert BURNS of Fullerton, CA.
Mr. BURNS removed with his family from Indiana to Kansas in 1869. Returning to the east the same year, he again came to McPherson Co. Kansas, in 1878 and remained there until the opening of Oklahoma to settlement, at which time he located on the farm where he died.
Mr. BURNS is survived by his widow, his five children and two brothers, Andrew, of Conway, Kansas, and James W. of Crescent, OK.
Funeral services were held from the family residence, May 5, at 12 o'clock. The body was laid to rest in the Crescent cemetery.

A Serious Accident
Willie DEFREESE while riding out to Literary meeting west of town on last Friday evening, had the misforturne to have his horse fall; out about the WALLER place and causing the boy a very serious accident, breaking his left shoulder bone, cracking some of his ribs and hurting him internally besides brusing his head up very badly and doing other unjury.
The accident occured at about eight o"clock in the evening and as the horse fell, it fell right on the boys leg, for a while it was thought the horse was dead and the boy killed and it was several days before the boy regained conciousness.
Drs. SCOTT and UNDERWOOD was called and the boy taken to the home north of town where he was given medical aid. It is hoped that the accident will have no permanent effect and that the boy will again soon be well. 

Albert C. RINGOLD Born Nov.30, 1840, died Jan. 13, 1914, age 78 years, 1 month, 18 days; only the wife, one son and granddaughter were at the bedside when he passed away.
He was born in Indiana, emigrated with his parents to Clarksville, Clark County Illinois in 1852 in 1860 he went to Nodaway County, Missouri, to run a  farm for his father and August 30, 1861 he enlisted in Company C, Fortworth Missouri Infanty and served in the Cavalry of that regiment. He was in the battle of Lexington where he served as sergeant and was afterward parolled, then reenlisted 1862, and served till the close of the war. He returned to Nodaway County, Missouri where he met and married Elizabeth MCGUIRE, Aug. 30, 1865, to this union was born ten children, four daughters and six sons; three which has already departed their life.
In 1877 he moved from Missouri to Nebraska with his family where he lived until 1892, when he moved to Oklahoma and spent the remainder of his life. He was a member of the Christian church of which he was an active worker also a member of the United Workman Lodge in Nebraska, and Mason lodge at Ripley, Oklahoma which took charge of the body and brought it to Crescent for interment.
He leaves to mourn his death a wife, Mrs. Elizabeth RINGOLD, of Ripley, Oklahoma ; and seven children; F.A. RINGOLD, of Ripley, Okla.; Mrs. Etha  and Della BROWN, of Crescent, Okla.; Myron RINGOLD, of Adair, Okla.; Elston RINGOLD, of Windfield, Kans.; Bert RINGOLD, of Mulhall, Okla.; Mrs. Myrtle MURPHY, of Stillwater, Okla.; also four brothers and two sisters.
The Deceased was well and favorably known in this community having at one time lived on a farm south of Crescent and while here he made a large circle of friends who were indeed shocked to learn of his sudden death, as Mr. RINGOLD was a good man, a fine neighbor and an excellent Chirstian gentleman. The bereaved relatives have the tenderest sympathy of their many friends.

Mr. PIRVERS' son moved this week on the old FULLER place now owned by Henry SWAIN.

Mr. TITUS and children went to Stroud this week for a visit with Victoria's sister, Miss Ruth ELLIS.

Oscar BREWSTER is putting a number of improvements on his farm this spring.

Willie McKinley DEFREESE was born March 28, 1897 at Brighton, Polk County, Missouri, and died at Crescent, Okla. Jan. 27, 1914. Willie was the son of Mr. and Mrs. W.J. DEFREESE and leaves a father, mother, four sisters and five brothers to mourn his departure.
He was just growing into young manhood and was an exceptionally ambitious and his loss is indeed quite a blow to the bereaved relatives.
The funeral services were held at the Methodist church and great respect was shown the deceased boy by the stores closing and the schools dismissing so that all could attend the funeral services at which the church was unable to accomodate the attendance, Rev. STILES officiating at the services .
The relatives have the sympathy of the whole communuity.

September 25, 1914

Moses CHADWELL, was born in Beli Co., Kentucky, July 4, 1877 and died Sept. 17, 1914, age 87 years, 2 months, and 18 days. He was married to Ada HOISINGTON Jan. 17, 1909. He leaves a wife and daughter to mourn his loss.

January 28, 1916

Clara Agness PERKINS HOISINGTON, was born August 23rd, 1840 in Woodstock Co. Virginia and died at the home of her son, Charles HOISINGTON.
Funeral services were held at the Christian Church, after which the remains were laid to rest in Crescent cemetery.

ALEXANDER
Mrs. Doctor ALEXANDER, maiden name Miss Barbara Ellen WARD, born Crowley Co., Kansas, Sept. 9, 1872. Married Doctor ALEXANDER Jan. 22, 1889 at Winfield, KS. Moved to Oilton, Oklahoma on Sept. 20, 1917. She died on May 16th. 6 children, 2 preceded her in death, Roy and Nora. Survivors: her husband, 4 children: 3 daus., Mrs. Pearl KELSO and Mrs. Mae BROOKS, Guthrie, Miss Bessie ALEXANDER, Oilton, and one son Reuben ALEXANDER, Crescent, her parents, 5 bros, and one sister all near Tulsa. Funeral on last Saturday in Crescent.

Doctor Hopkins ALEXANDER born March 17, 1852 in Ralls Co., Missouri died Oct. 26, 1937 at Crescent, Oklahoma.
Married Miss Barbara Ellen WARD on Jan. 22, 1889. They had 6 children 3 preceded him in death. Survivors: son, R.E. ALEXANDER of Crescent, 2 daus., Mrs. Mae BROOKS of Crescent, and Mrs. John MARRS of Bledsoe, Texas, 11 geandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Funeral oN Thursday, and burial in Knowles Cemetery.
