1928-29 Coal Co. Schools

The County Superintendent's Department is anxious to render the fullest measure of co-operation and assistance in educational matters without assuming any of the rightful duties and responsibilities of others. This department is always ready to aid with advice, personal assistance, information, devices and awards in encouraging scholarship,health work, right social attitudes, school improvement, surveys and daily schedules.
Extra - Curricular Activities should be encouraged, but only as a means to other and more desirable ends. We must insist that school houses have been built, primarily to have school in. Extra-Curricular Activities should be emphasized only after the regular schedule has been definitely insured.
This directory has been published for the purpose of enabling the school people of the county to organize and systemize their work. If it succeeds in lending assistance toward this end, the Department of Education will feel itself amply repaid for its effort to promote a broader understanding of school problems, progressive methods and higher educational standards.
