Clifford Eugene WOODS, 71 of Clayton died January 26, 1994 at Antlers. he was born April 2, 1922 at Smithville, Oklahoma to Rufe and Carrie SANDERS WOODS. He married LaVerne GREEN September 26, 1945 at Smithville. He served with the Coast Guard during WWII.
Services were held January 28 at First Baptist Church of Clayton with Rev. Jonathan Reichman and Rev. Forrest Upchurch officiating. Burial was at Denison Cemetery in Idabel under the direction of Clayton Funeral Home.

CLAWSON
F.M. CLAWSON, 79 of Wilburton, died January 31, 1994. He was born August 13, 1914 in Wilburton. He married Codie McCOY November 5, 1938 at McAlester. He was a retired coal miner. he was a U.S Army veteran of  WWII. He was preceded in death by his wife on July 17, 1978.
Services will be held February 4 at Jones Funeral Home with Rev. Willard Francis officiating. Burial will be at Lutie Cemetery under the direction of Jones Funeral Home.

JAMES
Velma Jo JAMES, 37 of Tuskahoma, died January 26, 1994. She was born October 29, 1956 at Talihina to Elsie Mae JAMES.
Services were held January 29 at Cole Spur Church of God and Christ with Rev. Joe Tyson officiating. Burial was at Cole Spur Cemetery under the direction of Clayton Funeral Home.

Alberta KNOX, 89 of Wilburton, died January 26, 1994 at Community Care Center in Wilburton. She was born October 2, 1904 in Arkansas. She was of the Baptist faith.
Graveside services were held January 28 at Lutie Cemetery with Rev. Willard Francis officiating. Jones Funeral Home handled the arrangements.

BRUCE
Otis M. BRUCE, 74 of Finley, died January 26, 1994 at St Joseph's Hospital in Paris, Texas. He was born March 4, 1919 at Nolia. He was a logger.
Graveside services were held January 28 at Finley Cemetery with Charles Walls Jr. and Rev. Conley Wright officiating. Mills and Coffey Funeral Services handled the arrangements.

BRANCH
Maggie Bell BRANCH, 71 of Red Oak, died January 29, 1994 at McAlester. She was born February 8, 1922 at Leflore. She was a member of the Assembly of God Church. She is preceded in death by her husband, George; a daughter, Margaret FAGAN; and a son Ronnie Joe BRANCH.
Services were held February 1 at the Assembly of God Church with Rev. James Mabry officiating. Burial was at Leflore Cemetery under the direction of Jones Funeral Home.

WEEMS
Bobby Ray WEEMS, 60 of Clayton died January 30, 1994 at Antlers. He was born January 31, 1933 at Stanley to Raymond and Minnie DAVIS WEEMS. He married Fay HOWZE September 28, 1956. He was retired from the U.S. Navy. He was a member of Stanley Christ's Church.

DUNCAN
George B. DUNCAN, 87 of Antlers died January 26, 1994 at the Pushmataha County Hospital in Antlers. He was born September 30, 1906 at One Creek Valley, Oklahoma. He was a farmer and was of the Baptist faith.
Services were held January 29 at the Finley Baptist church with Rev. Darrell Heath officiating. Burial was at One Creek Valley Cemetery under the direction of Mills and Coffey Funeral Services.

RAMSEY
Kaver "Bud" RAMSEY, 81 of Antlers, died January 23, 1994. He was born July 21, 1912 at Pauls Valley, Oklahoma. He was a carpenter and was of the Baptist faith. He was preceded in death by his wife, Bonnie RAMSEY.
Graveside services were held January 25 at Hall Cemetery with Rev. Ben Hotubbee officiating. Clayton Funeral Home handled the arrangements.

NAPIER
Lucy Mae NAPIER, 84 of Clayton, died February 13, 1994 at Antlers. She was born September 26, 1909 at Bates Arkansas to William and Mary McCLAIN. She married Lester NAPIER May 10, 1950 at Antlers. She was of the Baptist faith.
She is preceded in death by her husband and two sons.
Services were held February 15 at Tuskahoma First Baptist Church with Rev. Jim Collier officiating. Burial was at Old Town Cemetery at Tuskahoma under the direction of Clayton Funeral Home.

FITE
Harley A. "Bud" FITE, 70 of Wilburton, died February 13, 1994. He was born September 19, 1923 at Adamson, Oklahoma. He married Zola TURNBOW November 15, 1941 at Talihina. He was a retired auto mechanic and was of the Baptist faith. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII. He was preceded in death by his parents, Julius and Gertie FITE.
Services were held February 16 at Jones Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. David Ward officiating. Burial was at Highbridge Cemetery under the direction of Jones Funeral Home.

SMITH
Leveta SMITH, 82 of Jenks, died February 10, 1994. She was born November 17, 1911 at Eufaula. She was a retail grocery and a member of the Church of Christ. She had lived in Clayton area for approximately 52 years, spending the last several years in Antlers.
Services were held February 15 at Mills and Coffey Chapel with Brent Franks officiating. Burial was at  A.L. Stephens Cemetery in Clayton under the direction of Mills and Coffey Funeral Services.

PUCKETT
C.T. PUCKETT, 80 of Guthrie, died February 12, 1994. He was born March 7, 1913 at Waco, Texas. He married Doris STEPHENS April 19, 1936 at Kingfisher, Oklahoma. He was a retired pumper for Amoco Production Co. He is preceded in death by a son, Stephen Ray PUCKETT, on July 22, 1989.
Services were held February 15 at Jones Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Willard Francis officiating. Burial was at Memorial Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Jones Funeral Home.

COBB
Minnie M. COBB, 87 of Wilburton, died February 11, 1994. She was born July 14, 1906 at Coalgate. She married Frank COBB September 27, 1928 at Kingfisher. She was a member of First Baptist church. She was a retired insurance agent-owner of Latimer County Insurance Agency. She is preceded in death by her husband, Frank, her parents, and two brothers.
Services were held February 13 at First Baptist Church with Rev. Ray Talbott officiating. Burial was at Wilburton City Cemetery under the direction of Jones Funeral Home.

MELTON
Paul Titus MELTON, 64 of Buffalo Valley, died March 2, 1994 at Talihina. He was born January 24, 1930 at Whitesboro to Ted and Maggie MELTON. He married Kathy BENTON October 10, 1987 at Buffalo Valley.
He was a member of the First Assembly of God Church and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. he had been employed in railroad and trucking transportation.
He was preceded in death by Carol MELTON and his father, Ted MELTON.
Services were held March 5 at the First Assembly of God Church in Talihina with Rev. Jerry Grammar and Rev. Lloyd Earp officiating. Burial was at Whitesboro Cemetery under the direction of Clayton Funeral Home.

BUTLER
Yullabelle Yonne BUTLER, 54 of Clayton, died March 4, 1994 at St. Anthony's Hospital in Oklahoma City. She was born August 23, 1939 at summerfield to Clyde Leroy and Robie LLOYD KENSWORTHY. She married Elton Pat BUTLER on August 2, 1954 at Hugo. She was of the Christian faith.
She is preceded in death by her father, a grandson, and a son-in-law, Frankie STINSON.
Services were held March 7 at Christ Church of Stanley with Johnny Joslin officiating. Burial was at Summerfield Cemetery under the direction of Clayton Funeral Home.

KING
Lillie Mae KING, 90 of Buffalo Valley, died April 21, 1994 at the Choctaw Nation Indian Hospital in Talihina.
She was born December 11, 1903 at Centerville, Arkansas to James Mark and Sara Anna CLARK FOSTER.
She had been a resident of the Buffalo Valley area most of her life. She was a member of the Talihina Church of Christ.
She is preceded in death by her husband, George William KING, on August 17, 1955, and a son, Robert KING in December 1978.
Services were held April 25 at the Yanush Assembly of God church with Rev. William Brown and Rev. Alton Linker officiating. Burial was at the King Family Cemetery in Buffalo Valley under the direction of Drake-Jones Funeral Home.

BROWN
Layton BROWN, 85 of Smithville, died April 25, 1994 at the Talihina Manor Nursing Home. He was born April 5, 1909 at Albion. He had been a resident of the Talihina area all of his life. He was of the Baptist faith. He worked for the Frisco Railroad for 37 years as a railway maintenance man until his retirement. He was a member of the Talihina AF&AM Lodge No. 71. Scottish Rites Consistory, and a 32-degree Mason, a member of the Railway and Maintenance Union.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Nettie, in 1962, and a son Bobby BROWN, in 1990.
Graveside services were held April 27 at the Old Talihina City Cemetery under the direction of Drake-Jones Funeral Home.

MOSES
James H. MOSES, 73 of Wilburton, died April 19, 1994. He was born August 27, 1920 at McCurtain. He married Francis McMARCUM August 27, 1939 at Shawnee. he was a member of the First Baptist Church of Wilburton. He was a former administrator at the Latimer County Hospital. He was a WWII Navy veteran, a charter member of Radiography Technologists, and held offices in the Oklahoma and Arkansas Hospital Associations.
He is preceded in death by his parents, a sister, and a brother.
Services were held April 22, at Jones Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ray Talbott officiating. Burial was at Center Point Cemetery under the direction of Jones Funeral Home.

Leon "Bony" BARRON, 73 of Talihina, died May 2, 1994 at his home. He was born November14, 1920 at Muse. He was a WWII Army veteran. He had lived in the area most of his life. He was of the Protestant faith and is preceded in death by a sister, Alma BARRON, and a brother, Gib BARRON.
Services will be held May 4 at the First Baptist Church in Muse with Rev. Carrol Fitzgerald and Kenny Rose officiating. Burial was at Muse Cemetery under the direction of Drake-Jones Funeral Home.

CRAIG
Roy CRAIG, Jr., 64 of Talihina, died May 2, 1994 at Sparks Regional Medical Center in Ft. Smith. He was born May 19, 1929 at Talihina to Roy and Anna Mae LEDFORD CRAIG. He had been a resident of the Talihina area for most of his life. he was married to Imogene BAXTER in 1971 at Poteau. he was m member of the Greenhill Baptist Church. He had been employed in the timber business.
He is preceded in death by two children, a daughter, Rose Mary BAXTER, and an infant daughter.
Services will be held Friday, May 6, 10 a.m. at Greenhill Baptist Church with Rev. Phillip Wade and Rev. Kenny Bryant officiating. Burial will be at Whitesboro Cemetery under the direction of Drake-Jones Funeral Home.

KYLE
Reba Fay KYLE, 78 of Clayton, died April 30, 1994 at the Pushmataha County Hospital in Antlers. She was born March 19, 1916 at Sallisaw to John W. and Drady M. KYLE. She was a nurse and was a member of the Church of Christ.
Graveside services were held May 2 at Clayton City Cemetery with John Stepp officiating. Clayton Funeral Home handled the arrangements.

SAMUEL
Lawrence Wendell SAMUEL, 66 of Talihina, died April 30, 1994 at Sparks Regional Medical Center. in Ft. Smith.
He was born June 7, 1927 at Beachton, Oklahoma.
He had lived in the Talihina area most of his life. He married Oatle WILSON on July 27, 1948 at Waldron, Arkansas. He was a  WWII Army veteran, and worked for the Public Health Services for 30 years as a maintenance man until his retirement. he was a member of the Grace Baptist Indian Church in Talihina.
He is preceded in death by two sons, Lawrence SAMUEL, Jr. in 1948 and Terry SAMUEL in 1984, a daughter, Janet SAMUEL HAYES in 1991.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 5, at the First Baptist Church in Talihina with Rev. Mile Harjo and Rev. Josh Harjo officiating. Burial will be at the New Talihina City Cemetery under the direction of Drake-Jones Funeral Home.

LOVITT
Bobbie Sue LOVITT, 49 of Nashoba, died april 29, 1994. She was born August 24, 1944 at Hugo. She worked as a cook for Nashoba School. She was a member of Christ's Church. and was an honorary member of the National High School Rodeo Association.
Services were held May 1 at Nashoba School Gym with Charles Talbott officiating. Burial was at Nolia Cemetery under the direction of Mills and Coffey Funeral Services of Antlers.

GILBERT
Funeral Services for James Alexander GILBERT, 85, were held April 6, 1994 at Green Funeral Chapel in Kirkland, Washington.
Mr. Gilbert, a former resident of Talihina, died April 4, 1994 in Bellevue, Washington.
He was born October 6, 1908 in Tono, Washington to John William and Fanny BAGGLEY GILBERT. He had been employed as a mechanic and later as an animal caretaker at the Veterans' Hospital in Seattle, Washington.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ida Elizabeth GILBERT.

TIPPETT
Roy Henry TIPPETT, 89 of McAlester, died May 1, 1994 at Talihina. he was born June 25, 1904 at Wilburton. He married May Violet TURNBOW  July 30, 1943 at Hartshorne. He was a retired steel worker and a WWII Army veteran.
Hi is preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Robert.
Graveside services were held May 4 at Lutie Cemetery with Rev. Randy Waldrop officiating. Hones Funeral Home handled the arrangements.

GRIGGS
Annie Bell GRIGGS, 79 of Yanush, died April 29, 1994 at Antlers. She was born March 23, 1915 at Tuskahoma.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Marion GRIGGS, in January, 1968, her parents, four sisters, and two brothers.
Services were held May 2 at Cupco Freewill Baptist Church with Rev. Alton Linker officiating. Burial was at Cupco Cemetery under the direction of Jones Funeral Home.

OTT
Anna Bell OTT, 74 of Wilburton, died April 29, 1994. She was born October 23, 1919 at Tom, Oklahoma. She was a member of cumberland Presbyterian Church and was retired from Jones Academy.

TAYLOR
Lizzie TAYLOR, 90 of Wilburton, died April 28, 1994 at McAlester. She was born July 8, 1903 at Darwin, Okla. She married McKinley TAYLOR May 16, 1929 at McAlester. She was a member of Gum Creek Cumberland Presbyterian Church. She is preceded in death by her husband, her parents, on James, and two infant sons.
Services were held May 2 at Jones Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Phillip Wade and Rev. Ray Taylor officiating. Burial was at Damon Cemetery under the direction of Jones Funeral Home.

Nettie May VENTRIS, 81 of Stillwater, died May 10, 1994. She was born March 8, 1913 at Stillwater to George and Nellie POST WEBSTER.

KEEFER
Dena Lucille KEEFER, 64, of Wilburton, died May 15, 1994. She was born June 11, 1929 at Wister.
Services were held May 18 at the Jones Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Arden Smith officiating. Burial was at Lutie Cemetery under the direction of Jones Funeral Home.

PARISH
Dennis PARISH, 36, died Saturday at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa. Memorial services were held Tuesday at New Life Restoration Center in Wilburton with Rev. Gary Madlock officiating.
PARISH was born September 9, 1957 at Silverton, Oregon.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Abby PARISH, and a brother, Chris PARISH.

DICKERSON
Louise DICKERSON, 63 of Clayton, died May 13, 1994 at the Choctaw Nation Indian Hospital in Talihina. She was born January 10, 1931 at Milburn, Oklahoma. she married Floyd DICKERSON February 5, 1948 at Paris, Texas. She had been employed with the U.S. Post Office and was a member of the Church of Christ.
Services were held May 16 at the Church of Christ with Travis German officiating. Burial was at A.L. Stephens Cemetery under the direction of Clayton Funeral Home.

KILLINGSWORTH
D.C. KILLINGSWORTH, 65 of Muse, died May 12, 1994 at the Talihina Veterans Center. He was born March 18, 1928 at Whitesboro to Louis M. and Linnie L.  WILLIAMS KILLINGSWORTH.
He was a lifetime resident of the Muse area. he was a member of the Assembly of God faith. He was an honorably discharged WWII Army veteran and was honorably discharged as a U.S. Air Force Korean War veteran. In civilian life, he had been a farmer.
He is preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, George, Gene, and Velton.
Graveside services were held May 15 at Whitesboro Cemetery with Rev. Oddis Farris officiating. Drake-Jones Funeral Home handled the arrangements.

ELLISON
Summer May ELLISON of crowder died May 11, 1994. She was born June 19, 1993 at McAlester.
Services were held May 14 at First Baptist church in Red Oak with Rev. Travis German officiating. Burial was at Rock Creek Cemetery under the direction of Jones Funeral Home.

MANKIN
James Clifton MANKIN Sr., 70 of Panola, died May 16, 1994. he was born June 4, 1923 at Rocky Point Community. He married Wanda L. CATER July 17, 1947 at Wilburton. he was a member of Panola Baptist Church and was a WWII U.S. Army veteran.
Services were held May 18 at the Panola Baptist Church with Rev. Charles Blankenship officiating. Burial was at Lutie Cemetery under the direction of Jones Funeral Home.

Alice Faye ROSS, 75 of Tuskahoma, died May 22, 1994 at sparks Regional Medical Center in Ft. Smith, Ark. She was born December 17, 1918 at Tuskahoma to Edgar and Hattie McKINNEY WAND. She married Leroy ROSS in 1949. she had been active in church work. She was baptized into the Friendship Baptist Church in 1935 and later became a member of the Cole Spur Church of God in Christ where she served as mother from 1975 until her death.
She is preceded in death by her husband in 1971, her parents, a son , and two brothers.
Services were held May 25 at Cole Spur Church of God in Christ with Rev. Joseph Tyson officiating. Burial was at Cole Spur Cemetery in Kiamichi under the direction of Drake-Jones Funeral Home.

SELF
Mamie M. CHAFFIN SELF died May 17, 1994 at McAlester. She was born July 16, 1908 in Leflore. She married Haskell E. SELF in 1930 at Wewoka. She had lived in Bengal with her husband since 1968.
She and her sister-in-law were dressmakers in Beverly Hills for Oleg Cassini. She was a personal dressmaker to Mrs. Jerry Lewis, Mrs. Groucho Marx and other stars.

LAWSON
Laura Jane LAWSON, 88 of Talihina, died May 15, 1994. She was born November 25, 1905 in Arkansas to Henry and Mary BAXTER ABNER. she was of the Methodist faith and had been employed as a nurse.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas LAWSON.
Graveside services were held May 17 at Talihina City Cemetery with Jack D. Bence officiating. Clayton Funeral Home handled the arrangements.

GALBREATH
Maude GALBREATH, 94 of Muse, died May 18, 1994 at the Vista Nursing Home in Heavner. She was born July 22, 1899 in Blanket, Texas to John and Alda TURNER. She married John GALBREATH on November 30, 1919. she had been a resident of the Muse area since 1936. She was the oldest member of the Muse Baptist church.
She is preceded in death by her husband, John in 1969; two daughter, Mildred LOOPER and Doris HOLT; three sons, James Williams, Walter eugene, and Jasper Earl GALBREATH; and one grandson, Ronnie GALBREATH.
Services were held May 21 at Muse Baptist Church with Rev. Carrol Fitzgerald officiating. Burial was at Muse Cemetery under the direction of Drake-Jones Funeral Home.

KIEFER
Ralph L. KEIFER, 80 of Clayton, died May 21, 1994 at Antlers. He was born August 19, 1913 at Kay County, Oklahoma to Lawrence and Bertha GOBREATH KIEFER. He married Pearl HATCHER on June 22, 1968 at Healburg, California. he and Pearl have lived in Clayton since 1986.
He owned and operated Western Auto stores in California. he was a member of the Christian Church.
Services were held May 24 at Clayton Christian Church with Travis German officiating. Burial was at A.L. Stephens Cemetery under the direction of Clayton Funeral Home.

70th Anniversary
May 26, 1924 headlines in a local paper could have read "Young Choctaw Rescues Bride From Rushing Creek Near Clayton".
The strength and stamina of this "young Indian brave" prevailed. Amison MULLIN and bride Katie celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary Sunday at their home in Damon Valley, near Wilburton, on Amison's allotted tract of land.
Amison and Katie first met in Damon Valley. Later, they eloped to Clayton on horseback to be married.
As they turned their horses toward Wilburton on their return trip, it was late in the afternoon. Dark was upon them when they heard rushing waters as they neared a creek. It had been raining the entire time they spent in Clayton. The heavy rains had swollen the creek, making it impassable for Katie and her small pony. Amison saw Katie's pony losing its footing in the swift waters. With fear for his bride, Amison pulled Katie and her pony from the swift waters.
The next day, Amison swam the horses across as Katie walked the railroad bridge for their return to Wilburton.
Seventy years later, Amison and Katie are still in "love".

RODEN
Glenn Bruce RODEN, 74 of Talihina, died May 25, 1994 at Ft. Smith, Ark. She was born March 8, 1920 to R.M. and Florence YOUNG BRUCE at Nashoba. She married Houston RODEN and lived in California before moving back in 1976. She was of Baptist faith.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Houston, on March 16, 1985.
Services were held May 28 at the First Baptist Church in Talihina with Pastor Ken Biddinger officiating. Burial was at Laura Cemetery under the direction of Clayton Funeral Home.

CHAPMAN
Jim Riley CHAPMAN, 67 of San Antonio, Texas, died May 28, 1994. He was born October 10, 1926 in Adel to Asberry and Betty CHAPMAN. He married Margaret CHAPMAN on April 27, 1948 in Gainesville, Texas. he was a newspaper reporter.
Services were held May 31 at the McGee Valley Baptist Church with Rev. Bob Muncy officiating. Burial was at Mountain Home Cemetery on Daisy under the direction of Clayton Funeral Home.

TOWNSEND
Geneva Ferl TOWNSEND, 83 of Tuskahoma, died June 8, 1994 at the Eastern Oklahoma Medical Center in Poteau. She was born November 19, 1910 at Moscow, Iowa.
She was a homemaker and an avid lover of the outdoors, especially fishing with her grandchildren. She was of the Christian faith and had lived in the Tuskahoma area for 24 years.
She is preceded in death by her husband, two brothers, and four sisters.
Services were held June 11 at the Latter Day Saints Church in Talihina with Bro. Rusty Shaw officiating. Burial was at Albion Cemetery under the direction of Drake-Jones Funeral Home.

SNYDER
Robert Cass SNYDER,69 of Buffalo Valley, died June 5, 1994 at Talihina. He was born August 30, 1924 at Depew to Robert Lee and Myrtle WELCH SNYDER. he married Frena HOKIT on February 20, 1947 at Wilburton.
He had been an oil field worker and was of the Baptist faith. He was a U.S. Marine WWII veteran.
Services were held June 8 at the Buffalo Valley Baptist Church with Rev. Eugene Marley officiating. Burial was at Cupco Cemetery under the direction of Clayton Funeral Home.

MAGGARD
Edith Ledemia MAGGARD, 82 of Gowen, died June 11, 1994. She married Noel MAGGARD on January 3, 1959. She was a member of the Gowen Baptist Church.
Services were held June 13 at Gowen Cemetery with Leon Davison officiating. Clayton Funeral Home handled the arrangements.

TATE
Rodney Wayland TATE Sr., 54 of Yanush, died June 11, 1994 at St. John's Hospital in Tulsa. He was born April 19, 1940 at Yanush to Rev. Roy and Alice TATE. he married Leona PASS October 7, 1961 at Yanush.
He was owner and operator of Rod's Swap sop in Yanush for 31 years. He was of the Christian faith and was a member of the Tate Chapel.
He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and a sister.

Roland Samuel WELTY Sr., 68 of Talihina, died June 6, 1994 at the Talihina Veterans Center.
He was born October 13, 1925 at Newton, Kansas. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Newton. Kansas and the Veterans of  Foreign Wars of Newton. he was a U.S. Navy WWII veteran.
Graveside services were held June 9 at Kingfisher Cemetery in Kingfisher with Rev. Leon Saxton officiating. Drake-Jones Funeral Home handled the arrangements.

REYNOLDS
Edward Cass REYNOLDS, 86 of Clayton, died June 12, 1994 at Paris, Texas. He was born October 11, 1907 at Eufaula to Edward and Mary ROGER REYNOLDS. He married Eunice DAVIS in 1937 at Antlers. He  was a farmer.
Services were held June 15 at the Clayton School cafeteria with Ronnie Lorance officiating. Burial was at Reynolds Cemetery under the direction of Clayton Funeral Home.

VANDERPOOL
Hoyt K. VANDERPOOL, 75 of Wilburton, died Thursday, June 9 at Wilburton. Services were held June 13 at Jones Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tommy Brannon officiating.
Interment will be at Wilburton City Cemetery under the direction of Jones Funeral Home, Wilburton.
He was born August 27, 1918 at Pomona, California. On June 13, 1980 in Las Vegas, Nevada, he married Juanita A. MOORE. He retired from the U.S Navy after 20 years of service, was a veteran of WWII and the Korean War, was a retired member of fleet Reserve and a member of the Alcoholics Anonymous, D.A.V., and V.F.W.

WALDEN
Jimmy Dean WALDEN, 60, of Wilburton, died June 9.
Graveside services were held at 10 a.m. on June 11 at Leflore Cemetery, with Rev. Willard Francis officiating under the direction of Jones Funeral Home, Wilburton.
WALDEN was born June 2, 1934. He was employed by Oil Field Supply Co., a veteran of the Korean War, and was a member of the Leflore Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his father, Dee WALTON, Sr.

VINSON
John William VINSON, 73, of Wilburton passed away on June 12 in Wilburton, Oklahoma.
He was born in Wilburton on January 30, 1921. He was a member of the Center Point Baptist Church and was a retired carpenter.
He married Loretta O'NEAL on January 18, 1972 in Wilburton.
Services were held on June 14 at 10:00 a.m. at the Center Point Baptist Church with Rev. Chuck Watts officiating . Interment was at Center Point Cemetery.

DEAVER
Elizabeth M. DEAVER, 84, died June 6, 1994. She was born September 11, 1909 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
She was married to Durwood DEAVER on March 16, 1992 :-). in McAlester, Oklahoma.
Services were held by Jones Funeral Home at the Jones Funeral Chapel on Friday, June 10 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Dee Taylor officiating. Interment was at the Veterans Colony Cemetery.

STEPHENS
James J. STEPHENS, 78, of Wilburton died June 10, 1994 at Talihina, Oklahoma. He was born June 15, 1915 in Tuttle, Oklahoma. STEPHENS was a retired carpenter and a veteran of WWII.
Services were held June 13 at 2 p.m. in the Jones Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Wayne Holcomb officiating. Interment was at the Veterans Colony Cemetery.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother.

MIDDLETON
A celebration of  love was held June 9 at 10 a.m in Lawton Ritter Gray Chapel to honor Quinith MIDDLETON'S last journey towards her heavenly home.
Quinith's earthly remains were interred at fort Sill Cemetery where she joined her husband who preceded her in his ascension in September 1985.

WARD
John Larkin WARD, age 83 of Edmond, Oklahoma died Friday, July 1, 1994 at his residence. Mr. WARD was born on October 6, 1910 in Lutie, Oklahoma to Ed and Serena Mae WARD. he was married to Ora ALEXANDER on June 25, 1934 in Perry, Oklahoma.
Mr. WARD worked in the oil industry most of his life. He was employed with Phillips Petroleum for a period of eight years in Borger, Texas, where he worked as a warehouse and parts man. He later was employed by Harper Oil  Company of the Edmond area for 32 years. While with Harper Oil , he worked as a bookkeeper and purchasing agent. Mr. WARD had lived in Edmond since 1950, and attended the Edmond Road Baptist Church.
Mr. WARD was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Robert WARD and two sisters, Leona CLARKSON and Pauline.
Services were held Tuesday July 5 at the Edmond Road Baptist Church. Burial was at Gracelawn Cemetery in Edmond under the direction of Baggerley-Marler Funeral Home of Edmond.

WALTON
Helyn Marie McNEILL WALTON, 61, of Wilburton died Saturday at her home.
Born April 7, 1933 at Seminole, Oklahoma, she was the daughter of Cleveland and Della SANDERS McNEILL. She married Ted E. WALTON January 28, 1950 in Batesville, Arkansas.
She worked at Eastern Oklahoma State College for 11 years and was a housewife and a member of the Park Road Church of Christ.
Service were held July 6 at 2 p.m. at the Park Road Church of Christ under the direction of Jones Funeral Home of Wilburton.

PROCK
Edward Albert PROCK, 63, of Red Oak died July 2.
He was born November 30, 1930 in Red Oak, Oklahoma and married Monadene PROCK on February 5, 1951 at Ft. Smith, Arkansas.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Red Oak.
Services were held July 5 at 2 p.m. at the Red Oak First Baptist Church with Rev. Gary Haskins officiating. Interment was at the Red Oak Cemetery under the direction of Jones Funeral Home of Wilburton.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father, three brothers, David, John and Dick and sister, Maxine OWENS.

BRANNON
Orvin Bright BRANNON, 74, of Muse, Oklahoma died July 4, 1994 at his home. He was born October 18, 1919, at Fanshawe. Oklahoma and had lived in the Muse area all of his life.
He served in the U.S. Army during WWII and was honorably discharged. He was a rancher all of his life and had worked for the United States Forestry Service on the Green Thumb Program for five years.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Muse. He was married to Juanita GALBRLATH on April 10, 1948 at Reno. Nevada.
Services will be held at the Muse First Baptist church on July 7 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Carrol Fitzgerald officiating. Interment will be in the Muse Cemetery under the direction of Drake-Jones Funeral Home of Talihina.

Ola B. WADE, 81, formerly of Talihina, died July 13, 1994 in Denver, Colorado. Services were conducted Monday, july 18, in the Talihina Presbyterian Church.
Ola B. was born and reared in Talihina. She was a product of the Talihina School System, continuing her education at Oklahoma State University and southeastern State Teacher's College.
She spent 42 years in her chosen profession of education and part of that career was serving the Talihina School System. She retired from Bloomfield, New Mexico Schools at the age of 75.
Ola B. was laid to rest in the Old Talihina City Cemetery under the direction of Drake-Jones Funeral Home.

THOMAS
Oliver Gene THOMAS, 72, of Wister, Oklahoma, died July 15, 1994. He was born on May 6, 1922 in Bengal, Oklahoma and was married to Betty OWENS on March 3, 1943.
THOMAS was a member of the Freewill Baptist Church and was a retired farmer-rancher-lumberman.
Services were held July 19 at the Salonia Community Building with Rev. Grady Jack officiating. Interment was in the Peachland Cemetery.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one daughter, Edna Mae THOMAS.

WELCH
Lloyd C. WELCH, 92 of Oklahoma City, died August 23, 1994. He was born November 1, 1901 at Coyle, Oklahoma to James and Zella INMAN WELCH.
He was retired from Tinker Air Force Base and was of the Baptist faith.
He is survived by his wife, Wanda and two sons of Shawnee.
He was preceded in death by a son, James WELCH.
Graveside services were held August 25 at Meeker with Rev. Tom Lonas officiating.

MANGRUM
Haskell Robert MANGRUM, 52 of Pittsburg, Oklahoma, died August 26, 1994. He was born February 17, 1942 at Yanush to Bonnie J. and Bertha MANGRUM.
He was a machinist and was of the Baptist faith.
He is survived by four children and five grandchildren; six brothers and one sister.

Hobart Lee CHILDRES, 68 of Wilburton, died August 24, 1994. He was born February 28, 1926 at Bengal. He was a retired construction worker and a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.
He is survived by three daughters;  a sister; 11 grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

LYNN
Huston David LYNN, 83 of Talihina, died August 22, 1994 at the Wilburton Care Center.
He was born October 29, 1910 at Ryan, Oklahoma to George and Nellie LYNN.
He had lived in the Talihina area for the past 30 years. He had worked in the timber/lumber business all of his life. He was a member of the Cupco Freewill Baptist church.
Survivors include five daughters; 19 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.
Services were held August 25 at Cupco Freewill Baptist Church with Rev. Bill Young officiating. Burial was at the Old Talihina City Cemetery under the direction of Drake-Jones Funeral Home.

GILLEY
Ruby Ethel GILLEY, age 84, departed this life Wednesday, August 24, 1994. born in Mead, Oklahoma on October 2, 1909 to Bard and Jeanettie TAYLOR, the first of six children, she attended Antlers Schools and college in Durant.
On September 30, 1933, she was united in marriage to Lois GILLEY. They lived in North Nelson near Antlers. In 1938, Lois and Ruby moved to Clayton and built a home called "Gilley Hill".
Her occupation was a teacher and rancher's wife. She taught at North Nelson, Nashoba, Divide and Clayton for a total of 22 years. ruby knew that education was the key that unlocked the door to the world and she relayed that to her students.
A member of the First Baptist Church, she served as Sunday School Superintendent for many years and later taught a class for ladies.
Services were held August 26 at the First Baptist Church in Clayton with interment at the Odd Fellow Cemetery in Antlers.

HONEA
William A. "Bill" HONEA, 70 of 1271 Schrock Road, McEwen, Tennessee, a former Talihina resident, died August 23, 1994 at Goodlark Hospital in Dickson, Tennessee. Services were held August 24 at Luff-Bowen Funeral Home in McEwen.
Bill, as he was known in Talihina, attended Talihina High School and was a perpetual member of Talihina Masonic Lodge No. 73. He was a bomber pilot during WWII.
He is survived by four sons and a daughter; a brother and two sisters. Seven grandchildren.

ANDERSON
Leroy ANDERSON, 68 of Talihina, died August 27, 1994 at St. Edwards Medical Center in Ft. Smith,  Arkansas. he was born August 13, 1926 at Lenox. He ws a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Talihina and had lived in the Talihina area all of his life.
He had worked for a upholstery shop in McAlester for a number of years and for the Public Health Services.
He is preceded in death by a brother, Johnny ANDERSON.
He is survived by his wife, Stella; four daughters and two sons; Four grandchildren.
Services were held August 30 at St. Pauls Methodist Church in Talihina with Rev. Taylor Harjo, Rev. Joe Wilkins and Rev. Billie Nowabbie officiating. Burial was at the New Talihina City Cemetery under the direction of Drake-Jones Funeral Home.

Trudy Sue NELSON, 74 of Talihina, died August 25, 1994 at the Talihina Manor Nursing Home. She was born August 25, 1920 at Lutie, Oklahoma to Milo and Edna HOFFMAN MILLS. She had been a resident of Talihina area for the past 30 years. She was a retired employee of the Talihina Branch, Spiro State Bank. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Talihina.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward "Sarge" NELSON, April 7, 1984.
She is survived by two sons and four daughters.; two sisters; 14 grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Services were held August 27 at the First Baptist Church in Talihina with Rev. Bob Haskins officiating.. Burial was at the New Talihina City Cemetery under the direction of Drake-Jones Funeral Home.

PATTERSON
Benjamin Gilbert PATTERSON, 83 of rural Talihina, died August 26, 1994 at his home. He was born February 27, 1911 at Big Cedar to Charlie and Mary Jane WILLIS PATTERSON.
He was a lifetime resident of the Big Cedar/Talihina areas. His employment had been as a carbon worker, railroad man and rancher. he had been a member of the Big Cedar Freewill Baptist Church and Talihina A.F.& A.M. #73.
He was preceded in death by a sister, LeVey Ada PATTERSON BAXTER; a brother, Zora PATTERSON; a niece, Rose Mary BAXTER; and a nephew, Leon Wayne BAXTER..
Services were held August 28 at the First Baptist Church in Whitesboro with Rev. Darrow Sanderson officiating. Burial was at the Whitesboro Cemetery under the direction of Drake-Jones Funeral Home.

NUNN
Furmon NUNN, 86 of Wilburton, died August 20, 1994 at the Latimer County General Hospital. He was born May 11, 1908 at Asher, Oklahoma. He was formerly of Pauls Valley and Enid. He was a member of the Assembly of God Church. He was a ranchhand at Moody's Ranch and later worked at Gibson Department Store, Wilson's Meat Packing Plant in Oklahoma City, and Pauls Valley Schools in maintenance.
He was preceded in death by his son, Johnny Ray NUNN; his sister, Bessie CLARY; and five brothers, Jess NUNN, Hershel NUNN, Clifford NUNN, Lewis NUNN, and Hubert NUNN.
Services were held August 24 at Stufflebean Funeral Chapel in Pauls Valley with Rev. Charles Dean officiating. Burial was at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.

McFERRAN
Raymon C. McFERRAN, 79 of Wilburton, died August 26, 1994. He was born January 18, 1915 at Red Oak. He married Laverne HARLOW November 30, 1943 at Bosier City, Louisiana. He was of the Baptist faith.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Wilburton, American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Wilburton Lions Club, Teacher Retirement, and AARP.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister , and a brother.
He is survived by his wife, two daughters and seven grandchildren.
Servicers were held August 27 at Jones Chapel with Rev. Ray Talbott officiating. Burial was at Brookside Cemetery in Houston, Texas under the direction of Jones Funeral Home.

HOLMAN
Robert Charles HOLMAN, 57 of Horton, died August 24, 1994 at a Topeka Hospital. he was a plumber and maintenance worker.
He was born July 18, 1937 at Claremore, the son of Nelson Alfred and Gladys DURANT  HOLMAN.
He had lived in Talihina before coming to rural Horton in 1989.
He served in the U.S. Navy in Vietnam, and was petty officer1st class, having served 10 years with two tours in Vietnam.
He was married to Henryetta JAMES on August 17, 1962 in Poteau. She survivies of the home.
Services were held August 27 at Schroeder Funeral Home in Horton. On August 29, a service was held at Good Springs Methodist Church in Lenox with Rev. Billie Nowabbi officiating. Burial was at the church cemtery.

William Henry "Bill" BAGGETTIII, 50 of Talihina died August 30, 1994 at his home. He was born October 15,1943 at Memphis, TN to Herman B. and Maurine BOATRIGHT BAGGETT . He had resided in the Talihina area for most of his life. He was an honorably discharged Vietnam Army veteran. He married Donna BOSTON Sept. 21,1968 at Talihina. BAGGETT was a newspaper journalist, having received his B.A. degree in journalism at Northeastern State College in Tahlequah. He was also a graduate of the New York Institute of Photography. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Talihina. He was also a member of the Talihina A.F. & A. M. Lodge #73, a 32 degree Mason. He was a member and past president of the Talihina Lions Club and Chamber of Commerce. He belonged to the Talihina FFA Alumni Assoc. and was chairman of the Kiamichi Valley War Memorial Committee. Other memberships, activities and honors include the Scottish Rite Consistory, McAlester, Bedouin Shrine, Muskogee, Sons of Confederate Veterans, and the Americans Simmental Association. While in membership of the American Legion, he was elected as Oklahoma State Dept. Commander for 1973-1974. at that time, he was the youngest man ever elected and the first veteran of the Vietnam Era to be elected. He was presented with a plaque and paid-up lifetime membership in the American Legion. Survivors include his wife Donna, two daughters, a son, a grandson, and a sister. Services were held Sept. 1 at the Talihina High School auditorium with Rev. Billy MOORE Burial was at the old Talihina City Cemetery under the direction of Drake-Jones Funeral Home.

BOREN
Morris Gary "Buck" BOREN , 76 of Albion, died August 30,1994 at the Latimer County Hospital in Wilburton. He was born September 17,1917 at Atwood, Oklahoma to Ross and Alma CATES BOREN . He had lived in the Albion/Talihina area for most of his life. He was an honorably discharged WWII Army veteran. He was married to Ethel FILES on June 3.1964 at Pateau. He was retired from employment as a mechanic with the Oklahoma Veterans Center, Talihina. He is survived by his wife Ethel, three daughters, three sons, a sister, eighteen grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Services were held September 2 at the Faith Pentecostal Church of God in Talihina with Rev. Kenny BRYANT officiating. Burial was at Albion Cemetery under the direction of Drake-Jones Funeral Home.

MATTOX
Virgil May MATTOX,86 of rural Tuskahoma, died August 31, 1994 at Sequoyah Memorial Hospital in Sallisaw. He was born August 6,1908 at Muse to Jim and Montie WORKMAN MATTOX. He had been a resident of the Buffalo Valley area foremost of his life. He was a member of the Church of Christ faith. He had worked as a truck driver. e was preceded in death by his wife, Hazel MATTOX , in November 1979 and a great granddaughter Linda Gail MATTOX. He is survived by a daughter, two sons, six grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and one great-great- granddaughter. Graveside services were held September 2 at Cupco Cemetery with Rev. AXLEY
George Patrick "Pete" AXLEY, 54 of Divide, died September 1,1994. He was born January 29,1940 in Holbert to Mansey and Lorene AXLEY. He was a truck driver and was of the Baptist faith. He is preceded in death by his parents, step-father and grandmother. He is survived by his wife, Georgia, five daughters, two sons-in-law, four sisters, five granddaughters and one grandson. Services were held September 4 at Lighthouse Cathedral in Clayton with Rev. Conley WRIGHT officiating. Burial was at Center Point Cemetery under the direction of Clayton Funeral Home.

SPRING
A celebration of life will be held on September 7,1994 at 11 a.m. in the First United Methodist Church of Talihina to honor Grady Porter SPRING, age 91 of Tuskahoma, who was born January 12, 1903 at Tuskahoma. He departed this life on September 2,1994 at his home in rural Tuskahoma. In the township of Tuskahoma, Indian Territory on January 12, 1903 a handsome baby boy was born by the name of Grady Porter SPRING to Levi and Henrietta SPRING. He was born into a family blessed with 16 siblings. Grady was nourished and cared for by a loving family. He attended school and graduated with an 8th grade diploma which was an equivalent for being a teacher in that period of history. As he progressed into adulthood, Grady became a farmer/rancher and remained at this position all of his life. Mr. SPRING loved the community he was reared in, and worked tirelessly in his church home, the former Baptist Church of Cole Spur. In her years, he has been a faithful member of the Methodist Church of Tuskahoma. Mr. SPRING was united in marriage with Mrs. Irene BROWN on November 2, 1935. Born to this union were a girl and a boy. The couple reared nine siblings. His wife Irene brought six siblings to the union by two previous marriages. Due to the death of a beloved daughter, the couple reared an extra special grandson. Mr. SPRING was preceded in death by his wife, two daughters, and a son. He leaves to witness his home going, six siblings, the special grandson, two sisters, 30 grandsiblings, 56 great-grandsiblings, 15 great-great-grandsiblings, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Services were conducted September 7 by Rev. Wade WATTS, Rev. F.E. BURROUGHS, Rev. Jack CURTIS and Rev. Dale SULLIVANat the First United Methodist Church in Talihina. Interment was at the A.L. Stephens Cemetery at Clayton under the direction of Drake-Jones Funeral Home.

She was a former member and officer of the Eastern Star Lodge of Talihina. She had been a telephone operator for a number of years and had worked for the Talihina School cafeteria and for many businesses in Talihina. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Talihina. She is preceded in death by her husband, Clarence (Pappy) UNDERWOOD; her parents, Joseph and Anna WHITE; her stepmother, Fannie WHITE; two sisters and two brothers. She is survived by two sons, six sisters, four grand- children and seven great-grandchildren. Services were held September 13 at the First Baptist Church in Talihina with Rev. Billy MOORE officiating. Burial was at the old Talihina City Cemetery under the direction of Drake-Jones Funeral Home.

Dorothy WOODRUFF, 67 of Wilburton, died September 7,1994. She was born November 11,1926 at Leflore. She was a member of the Church of Christ. Gary Gene GETZ , 53 of Red Oak, died September 7,1994. He was born January 18,1941 at Beaver, Oklahoma. He married Carolyn BAILES August 24,1962 at Beaver. He was a member of the Masonic Blue Lodge of Red Oak. He received his 32nd degree Mason from McAlester. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War and served in the Navy. He is survived by his wife, Carolyn, three daughters, seven grandchildren; two brothers, a sister, two half-brothers, a half-sister, his mother, Betty DAY, and an aunt. He is preceded in death by his father, a brother, and a granddaughter, Haley Jean DOSHIER. Services were held September 12 at High Bridge Baptist Church with Rev. David WARD officiating. Walter MAXEY, 91 of Wilburton, died September 11,1994. He was born November 26,1902 at Red Oak. He married Vera ELLIS March 21,1964 at Stigler. He was a member of the Church of Christ. He was a retired farmer and rancher. He had lived in the area for the past 12 years. He was retired from the Oklahoma State Highway Dept. where he had worked for 20 years. He was a member of the Green Hill Baptist Church, where he was active in his church work. He is preceded in death by his wife Mary McKENZIE. Survivors include a brother, and two sisters. Lela Mae TIDWELL , 68 of Talihina, died September 12, 1994 at the Eastern Oklahoma Medical Center in Poteau. She was born December 5,1925 at Talihina and had lived in the area all of her life. She was of the Protestant faith. She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert Green TIDWELL, and a daughter, Patsy Lou TIDWELL. She was a member of the Church of God in Christ at Cole Spur. She is survived by two sisters and a brother. Services were held September 14 at the Church of God in Christ with Rev. Joseph TYSON and Rev. Howard TYSON officiating. Burial was at Cole Spur Cemetery under the direction of Drake-Jones Funeral Home.

Walter Michael RAPP, 76 of Red Oak ,died September 13, 1994 at McAlester Regional Hospital. He was born July 22,1918 at Red Oak. He was a retired director of the Oklahoma Employment Security Commission. He is survived by his wife, Velma, a daughter and son-in-law, a son and daughter- in-law, four grandchildren and two nieces. Jams Doss JOHNSON, 77 of Buffalo Valley, died September 17,1994 at McAlester Regional Hospital. He was born December 11,1921 at Quinton to Arthur and Nora MORLAND JOHNSON. He had been a resident of the Buffalo Valley area all of his life. He retired in 1987 from the Oklahoma Veterans Center at Talihina. He is preceded in death by two sons, and infant son and Marvin Ray JOHNSON. He is survived by a daughter, two sons, two brothers, two sisters eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Burt Joseph SKIPPER, 77 of Antlers, died September 15,1994. He was born October 4,1916 at Kelton, Texas to Burt and Mable SKIPPER. He was a rancher, carpenter and horse trader, and was of the Baptist faith. He is preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy, in 1978. Lula Mae HARRIS, 94 of Hartshorne, died September 16,1994 at Wilburton. She was born March 12,1900 in Indian Territory. She married James D. HARRIS December 7,1922 at Wilburton. Minnie Elma HULSEY, 82 of Burrlison, Texas, died September 22,1994. She was born November 8,1911 at Braden Bottom, Oklahoma. She married Otis HULSEY October 8,1938 at Red Oak. She was of the Baptist faith. Survivors include her husband, Otis, two daughters and sons-in-law, a granddaughter, a grandson, and two sisters. Services were held September 26 at the Red Oak First Baptist Church, with Rev. Dudley MULLINS officiating. Burial was at Read Oak Cemetery under the direction of Jones Funeral Home.

MILLER
Rev. Ray MILLER, 72,minister of the Two Mile Church of Christ at Muse, and former minister of the Henderson Church of Christ, died September 10,1994 following complications of heart surgery. Ray was a WWII veteran, born in Shepardsville, raised in Elsie, and graduated from the Great Lakes Bible College in Lansing, Michigan. Upon graduation, he and his wife founded the Northwood Christian Home, a home for children, on the farm near Kalkaska, Michigan. He is survived by his wife, Mary WADSWORTH MILLER; two sons,, four grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by a daughter Kathy and a grandson Jason. Services were held September 16 at the Duplain Church of Christ in Ovid, Michigan, with burial at the Maple Grove Cemetery. Pastor Phil BEAVERS and Pastor Mike STEERE officiated. Osgood Funeral Home of Ovid handled the arrangements.

WATKINS
Lillie Bell WATKINS, 17 of Throckmorton, Texas, passed away September 22,1994 in the Mercy Medical Center at Redding, California. She was ill for only a week. She had lived in Clayton for 27 years before moving to Throckmorton last October. Born October 9,1917 in Hope, Arkansas, she is survived by seven children, a daughter-in-law, four sons-in-law, 34 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren, two brothers, and three sisters. She was preceded in death by her husband John WATKINS, a son, George HARVIN,a brother Robert McKAMIE, a sister, Tavie PHILLIPS, and her parents, Johnny and Eddie McKAMIE. She will be laid to rest September 30 at Pine Spur Cemetery in Stanley. Officiating will be Brother Johnny JOSLIN.

Odie Irene McCAIREL,82 of Antlers, died September 20,1994. She was born November 20.1911 to Wilmun and FrancisKELLEY. She was of the Baptist faith. She is preceded in death by her husband, Dallas McCAIREL. She is survived by two daughters, a son, 10 grandchildren, a sister-in-law, and a niece. Delphia Vermell FOUTCH, 67 of Talihina, died September 29, 1994 at Bossier, Louisiana. She was born June 1, 1927 at Buffalo Valley to Clyde and Opal SAGE. She was a teacher's aide and was a member of the Assembly of God Church and Talihina Senior Citizens. She was preceded in death by her husband, William FOUTCH. She is survived by her mother, Opal SALE; three brothers, four sisters, seven children, nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Services were held September 24 at the Buffalo Valley Assembly of God Church with Rev. Lloyd EARP officiating. Burial was at the Talihina City Cemetery under the direction of Clayton Funeral Home.

LESSEL
Alvin Glen LESSEL, age 77, of Red Oak passed away September 27,1994. Married to Susie KRONE on May 9,1992, LESSEL was baptized into the Methodist Church of Red Oak Oklahoma, and had attended the First Free Will Baptist Church of Wilburton, Oklahoma. Services are scheduled for Thursday, September 29, at 2:00 p.m. at the Red Oak First Baptist Church. Interment will be in the Red Oak Cemetery with Rev. Randy HOLMES and Rev. Johnny CONYERS presiding. Jones Funeral Home is in charge of services. He is survived by his wife Susie, son and daughter-in-law, two grandsons, two great-grandsons, two great -granddaughters, a brother, a step-son and daughter-in-law, step-daughter and son -in-law and five step-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his former wife, Mildred LESSEL on December 11,1964, and by his mother and father.

Osie Ellen INGLE , 83 of Leflore died September 30,1994 at the Eastern Oklahoma Medical Center in Poteau. She was born October 31, 1910 at Natural Dam, Arkansas to David Elmer and Nancy Jane . She had lived in Leflore since 1921 and was an active member of the Leflore First Baptist Church until she was unable to continue due to her health. She is preceded in death by her husband, Arlie A. INGLE, and a son, Albert Dean INGLE in 1955. She is survived by a son, a daughter, four sisters, seven grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, and three great great-grandchildren. Services were held October 3 at First Baptist Church in Leflore with Rev. Albert HINDS officiating. Burial was at Leflore Cemetery under t he direction of Drake-Jones Funeral Home.

Marie Amos SAMUEL, 80 of Smithville, died September 30, 1994 at St. Edward Mercy Medical Center in Ft. Smith. She was born March 6,1914 at Beachton, Oklahoma to Kelsin and Artimisse JONES AMOS. She had been a lifetime resident of the Smithville area. She was a graduate of Dwight Mission, Marble City, Oklahoma. She was married to Gardner SAMUEL on September 17,1935 at Idabel. She was a member and Sunday School teacher at Biglick Presbyterian Church, Smithville. She had also held other offices in the church and had been active in the Women's Society. She had been a homemaker and had an active part in raising other family members besides her own children. She is preceded in death by a son, Pat JOE , a grandson, Marlon LUDLOW, and a sister, Sarah HUDSON. She is survived by her husband, Gardner SAMUEL , two daughters, a brother, eight grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and four granddaughters-in-law. Services were held October 4 at Biglick Presbyterian Church in Smithville, with Rev. Joel COLBERT and Rev. Gene WILSON officiating. Burial was at Beachton Cemetery in Smithville under the direction of Drake Jones Funeral Home.

RAINWATER
Noel Earl RAINWATER 97 of Whitesboro died September 28, 1994 at the Oklahoma's Veterans Center in Talihina. He was born March 11, 1897 at Rifle, Kentucky to Miles EVANS and Harriet Elizabeth THOMAS RAINWATER. He had lived in the Whitesboro area for most of his life. He had been a farmer. He was a WWI Army Veteran and was a member of the Talihina Assembly of God Church and the American Legion. He is preceded in death by his wife, Lucy Faye STACKS RAINWATER, on June 21, 1975; a son, Byrnel RAINWATER; and a daughter Nima McBRIDE. He is survived by four daughters, four sons, a sister, a brother and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. Graveside services were held October 1 at Whitesboro Cemetery with Rev. Cecil HOLCOMB officiating. Drake-Jones Funeral Home handled the arrangements.

Betty Ruth WORKMAN, 59 of Whitesboro died October 1, 1994 at the Eastern Oklahoma Medical Center in Poteau. She was born March 14,1935 at Muse. She had lived in the Whitesboro area all of her life. Willie May CHAMBERS, 72 of Hartshorne, died October 2,1994. She was born January 6,1922 at Cravens. She is preceded in death by her parents and a sister Ruthie WILSON. He was born November 11,1918 at Albion to Thea F. and Sidney FARMER STANDIFER. He had been a lifetime resident of the Talihina area. He had been a member of the Falfa Baptist Church. He was employed at the Oklahoma Veterans Center, Talihina, as an operating engineer #1, retiring in 1980. He is preceded in death by two daughters, Stella MIZE and Winnona MORGAN . Survivors include his wife, Jewell, four sons, 18 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. Services were held October 10a t Falfa Baptist Church with Rev. Carrol FITZGERALD and Rev. Delton COOPER officiating. Burial was at Cupco Cemetery under the direction of Drake-Jones Funeral Home.

Cecil M. CRANFORD, 70 of Albion, died October 10,1994. He was born August 4, 1924 in Albion to Ruff and Mamie CRANFORD. He married Lucille ADAMS June 6,1972 in Ft. Smith, Arkansas. BALLARD
Clyde Vernon BALLARD, 86 of Talihina, died October 11, 1994 at the Eastern Oklahoma Medical Center in Poteau. He was born July 21, 1908 at John's Valley in Pushmataha County. He had been a lifelong resident of the Clayton/Talihina area. He had worked as a metal worker with Chicago Bridge & Steel. He was of the Protestant faith. He is survived by his wife, Velma Pauline, a daughter, a son, two sisters, three brothers, five grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She was director of Kiamichi Area Nutrition Project for 16 years until her retirement. She s preceded in death by her husband, her parents and a brother. She is survived by a daughter, a son, three step-daughters, a step-son, 12 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; a niece, and a nephew. Born March 24,1931 in Tulsa to Oscar and Gertrude WHITE UNDERWOOD, he married Dorris BROWN on August 1,1969 in Las Vegas, Nevada. He served in the U.S. Air Force. He worked as an Operating Engineer Dan was the owner of Mountain Splendor Enterprises in Dewey. He was a member of the First Southern Baptist Church of Cactus in Phoenix and the First Southern Baptist Church in Talihina. He was a lifetime member of the Masonic Lodge in Rathdrum Ldge, Idaho, a member of Spokane Local No. 320, a member of G.P.A.,N.R.A. and Operating Engineers Local No. 428. Survivors include his wife, Dorris, two sons, a daughter and son-in-law, a brother, a sister-in-law, three grandsons and a granddaughter.

Iva Lee WATSON, 63 of Whitesboro, died October 21,1994. She was born February 4,1931 at Talihina to Silas and Levina McGEE. She married Owen WATSON April 3,1952 in Wladron, Arkansas.
