The infant child of Mr. and Mrs. Art. HUMPHRIES, who lives near the south line of the county in Haskell precinct, died last Thursday and was buried Friday.
A birthday party was given Monday night at the home of D.M. NEATHERY
in honor of Miss Zelah's birthday, at which a number of our young folks
participated. They report having a most enjoyable time.
A.W. BRIER, who has managing(sic) the
old Shane livery barn for some time, has bought the old Spurlock barn in
Woodward and moved up there the first of the week. We regret to see he and
his family leave Harper county but wish them success in their new
home.
Miss Lenore BUCKIE, who has had been employed in this office the past months, resigned her position last Saturday, being called to Canadian, Texas, to assist her brother in his business, he being confined to his bed.
G.E. FORD last week construdted(sic) an artistic belt to be played for by gentlemen of the Buffalo Whist Club. It is embellished by an artistic burnt work mohograin of the clubs official title; besides many other hand-painted designs more or less symbolical which will cause it to be greatly prized and strived for.

Administrator of the estate of said decedent, and that all persons having

Order For Hearing Petition To Sell Real Estate State of Oklahoma In County
Court Harper County In the matter of the estate of G.H. REDER, deceased.
Now, on this 2nd day of February, 1910, T. R. REDER having filed herein his
petition for the sale of the real estate described in said petition, for
reasons in said petition stated. It is ordered, that the said petition be
and is hereby set for hearing on the 3rd of March, A.D. 1910 at 10 o'clock
a.m., at which time all persons interested in said estate and required to
appear and show cause, if any they have, why an order should not be granted
for the sale of so much of the real estate of the said decedent as is necessary

190? made (description of land), had filed notice of intention to make final

Contest Notice Department of the Interior,
U.S. Land Office at Woodward, Okla. January 24, 1910.
A sufficient contest affidavit having been filed in this office by Luther
J. WILLS, contestant, against homestead entry No. 88738, made March 17, 1908,
for the (description of land-unable to read), by Edward A. MCMILLAN, contestee,
in which it is allege that said entryman has wholly abandoned the above tract
of land for more than six months last past and next prior to the date herein.
That said defaults still exist and that said alleged absence from the said
land was not due to his employment in the army, navy, or marine corp. of
the United States, nor a private soldier, officer, seaman or marine during
the war with Spain or during another war in which the United States may be
engaged in, said parties are hereby notified to appear, respond, and offer
evidence touching said allegation at 10 o'clock a.m. on March 7th, 1910,
before the Register and Receiver in the U.S. Land Office at Woodward, Oklahoma.
The said contestant having, in a proper affidavit, filed January 24, 1910
set forth facts which show that after due diligence personal service of this
notice could not be made, it is hereby order and directed that such notice

Contest Notice January 25, 1910
A sufficient contest affidavit having been filed in this office by Hamer
C. ANDERSON, contestant, against homestead entry No. 26566 made August 25th,
1905, for (description of land), by Warren H. ANDERSON, contestee, in which
it is alleged that Warren H. ANDERSON has wholly abandoned said tract for
more than six months since making the entry and next prior to the date herein;
that said tract is not settled upon and culdivatyd(sic) by said party as
required by law, and said defaults having not been cured, said parties are
hereby notified to appear, respond and offer evidence on March 15th,
before J.L. GRIFFITTS, judge of of(sic) the county court, at his office

M.J. VORIS moved to Woodward the first of the week.
J.M. BRINK was on the sick list the first of the week.
One of Mr. and Mrs. D.P. PARKER'S children has been quite sick this week.
M.P. TERRY and family spent Saturday and Sunday in the city, the guest of W.H. SPILLERS.
Brad GRIMES, Ed, Able and P.R. COTHERS of Ashland were in Buffalo Monday of this week on business.
C.R. MALLORY, of Charleston, was in the city a couple of days the first of the week attending county court.
W.F. EWING, from the northeast part of the county, was transacting business in the city Monday.
Mrs. Jno. FITZWATER, of Haskell township, was in Buffalo a few hours Monday enroute home from the Herring ranch. Make Final Proofs before J.T. GRIFFITTS, Judge of County Court.
R.O RENFREW, of Woodford, was in Buffalo most of last week on business. R.O. enjoys visiting a good town.
C.C. ARNOLD of Anthony, Kansas, was in Buffalo one day the first of the week looking after his business interest here.
C.A. WYATT has purchased the Paris PAREAU property in the north part of town, Mr. PAREAU will remain in California.
Geo. HUGABOOM and family moved this week from the FORSTER building on West Turner Street to the L.E. SHANE residence.
Mr. John WHITMAN returned last Sunday from Grant county for a visit with relatives and friends here and made a friendly call at our office Monday.
B.E. WILLIAMS, Mrs. M.J. ACKLEY and Mrs. O.G. HARPER spent the day last Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Geo. CRAWFORD, eight miles southwest of town.
Death Of Mrs. TERRELL
Mrs. Mona TERRELL, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. N.A. TERPENING, living northwest
of Buffalo, died at their home Monday, February 28 and was laid to rest in
High Point cemetery next day. Mrs. TERRELL had been a sufferer for years,
and while her death was not unexpected, it came suddenly and was a shock
to her relatives and many friends.
Deceased was a kind, industrious Christian woman, a good neighbor and greatly
esteemed by all who knew her. She leaves a father and mother, sisters and
brothers, and a host of friends to mourn her departure, and the sympathy
of all goes out to them in their sorrow.
A Good Citizen Gone On Tuesday, March
1, C.P. LYONS, living near Kibby, died after a long illness with kidney trouble
and was buried Wednesday in High Point cemetery, just east of Buffalo.
In compliance with the request of the deceased the funeral was conducted
by the Masonic lodge of Buffalo, the impressive funeral rites of the lodge
being carried out in full.
We could not learn the age and place of birth of deceased, but knew him for
several years as an upright citizen and a good neighbor. He and his family
settled on their homestead in this county several years ago, and by hard
work and careful management have prospered.
Decease leaves a wife and two sons to mourn his death and the sympathy of
a host of friends go out to them in their deep sorrow.
Dr. W.S. OYLER, painless dentist, will be in Buffalo March 4 to 15
State vs. S.E. FOWLER, selling liquor.
J.W. NELSON Dead
John W. NELSON was born in Grant county, Indiana, April 13, 1877. He removed
to southwest Missouri with his parents in 1880, where he grew to manhood
and on February 22, 1908, was married to Miss Della WELCH.
They remained there until January 1909, when they moved to Oklahoma, residing
here until his death on March 17, 1910.
Deceased leaves a wife and one child, mother, one full brother and three
half brothers and one half sister, all of whom reside near Buffalo, to mourn
his death and in their sorrow have the sympathy of all.
Funeral services were held at the Baptist church, conducted by Rev. J.W.
HANDLEY, after which the remains were conveyed to High Point cemetery and
consigned to rest. A large number of sympathetic friends and neighbors attended
to pay their last respects to a good citizen and neighbor.
R.P. DALEY Dead
Word was received here Wednesday evening that R.P. DALEY, of Charleston,
had died that afternoon. Mr. DALEY suffered a stroke of paralysis a couple
of months ago, and since that time he has failed gradually until he died.
He came to this country among the early settlers of this section, was a man
of advanced knowledge, an active, public spirited citizen, alive to the needs
of his county and always active in any movement for the general welfare.
He was well known and greatly esteemed by most of our people here, who will
regret to learn of his death.
The remains were taken to his old home in Nebraska to be laid to rest beside
his relatives there, the sympathy of all goes out to the bereaved relatives
in their sorrow.
Obituary of Mrs. Sarah C. LAUDREDTH
Sarah Catherine ROBBINS was born near Cincitanati(sic), Ohio, on May 7, 1835.
She spend her girlhood in this state, marrying at the age of eighteen, her
first husband, David MATHEWS, one child, Nancy Jane, was born to them. Mr.
MATHEWS died when the child was nine years old. His widow then moved to Indiana
and late to Iowa, where in October 1866 she was married to her second husband,
Thomas LAUDREDTH. Six children, Mary, Lants, Alexander, Cora, Eli and Manuah
were born to (section missing) for a long time, but was confined to her bed
October 11, 1909 and endured a great deal of suffering until she passed onto
her eternal home at 9:45 a.m. March 10, 1910, aged 74 years, 10 months, and
3 days old.
One brother, John ROBBINS, of Georgetown, Ohio and five children, Mrs. Mary
WELLS of Mooreland, Okla., Mrs. Laura CLARK, Mrs. Cora NUTTER, of Alec
and Eli Landedth, of Willard, Okla. survive her. Hannah at the age of three
years and Nancy Jane in her young womanhood, leaving a husband and four children,
both preceded their mother to the better land.
Mrs. LANDREDTH united with the Christian church at the age of eighteen
years. After coming to Oklahoma she joined the United Brothers church.
The funeral services were held at the Fort Diamond school house and burial
at Willard cemetery, services held by Rev. C.S. EMBRER
Grandma HASTENS Dec'd After a lingering
illness of several months
Grandma HASTENS died last Sunday morning. The announcement of her death came
as a shock to her many friends, as it was reported only Saturday that she
seemed to be improving.
Funeral service were held at the Methodist church Monday afternoon, after
which the remains were laid to rest in High Point cemetery, attended by the
relatives and a large number of friends and neighbors, who sorrow fully performed
the last sad rites.
Nancy P. ODELL was born July 13, 1841, and on November 22, 1850 was married
to O.H.P. HASTENS. She departed this life March 13, 1910, aged 68 years,
8 months.
Two sons and a daughter survive her. Mrs. HASTENS was acquainted with a great
many people in this county and was highly esteemed by all and lived by her
intimates for her tranpull, genial disposition and gentle manners. Se settle
among the pioneers of this part of Harper county. The bereaved relatives
have the sympathy of all in there deep sorrow.
