KEMERLING
Joseph C. Kemerling, aged 56 years, and 13 days, died at the Memorial Hospital
in Bartlesville last Thursday after an illness of about seven months.
He and his family came to Barnsdall about 13 years ago and have made their
home here since that time with the exception of about two years.
Funeral services were held from the Christian Church here last Friday afternoon
and interment was made in the Ethel Reese Cemetary.
Joseph C. Kemerling was born Marcy 10, 1877 and died March 23, 1933. He was
born in Kewanee, Ill. He was united in marriage to Gussie Mae Milligan of
Victoria, Ill., Jan. 30, 1896. To this union was born nine children, five
girls and four boys, Mabel Turner, Barnsdall, Josie Walker, Wolco, Winifred
Wright, Barnsdall, Nan Evans, Dewey, Marion and Kenneth Kemerling Bransdall,
Pete of Tulsa and Rex and Charles of Barnsdall.
Mr. Kemerling came to Kansas in 1901, moved to Bartlesville in 1908, engaged
there by a wholesale grocery house for one year. From Bartlesville he moved
to Ochelata where he opened a grocery and operated it until 1912 when he
went to work for the I.T.I.O. as a line walker. At the beginning of his illness
he was a district foreman for the same company.
Surviving him are his widow and nine children and ten grandchildren.

WALKER
John Walker Rites
John Bethel Walker a long-time resident of the Wolco and Avant communities,
passed away September 25 at the home of his son, Doyle of Barnsdall.
Mr. Walker was born May 27, 1873 in DeKalb County, Tenn. He came to Avant
in 1923 from Arkansas. Mr. Walker was a former employee of the Shell Oil
Company. He was married to Elizabeth Martin Coker in 1903 and she preceeded
him in death. He was a member of the Baptist Church.
He is survived by two sons, Doyle of Barnsdall; Pleas G. of Tulsa; three
daughter, Mary Lassater of Oklahoma City, Tressie Godfrey of Pyatt, Arkansas;
and Jessie Johnson of Sydney, Neb; and fifteen great grandchildren. Funeral
services were held in the House of Prayer of Avant with the Rev. Elwood Tanner
officiating.

KEMERLING
Old Resident Died Sunday at Home of Her Son
Nancy Kemerling, who had lived with her son, J.C. Kemerling and wife for
the past twnety-five years, the last ten of which have been in and around
Barnsdall, passed from this life Sunday, October 26, at her son's home.
Mrs. Kemerling was born in Stark County, Ill., December 3, 1842, being 87
years, 10 months and 24 days of age. She was preceded in death by her husband,
Peter Kemerling.
She leaves to mourn her loss, her son, J.C. Kemerling, nine grandchildren
and a host of other relatives and friends.
Mrs. Kemerling was converted and united with the Baptist Church in her early
life.
Rev. Ira I. Woolard conducted the funeral services Tuesday morning and the
body was taken overland to Liberty Kans., by the Henderson funeral coach,
where interment was made.

KEMERLING
Mrs. Kemerling Funeral Held This Afternoon. Funeral services were held at
2:30 o'clock this afternoon at the Methodist Church here for Mrs. Gussie
Mae Kemerling, 65, who died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. John Oakley,
here Tuesday night. Mrs. Kemerling had lived in this community for the past
23 years. Rev. Beck of the local church, and Rev. Cave of Avant were in charge
of the services with arrangements by the Powell Funeral Home.
Burial was made in the Ethel Reese Cemetery and the pall bearers were; Hugh
Little, Charles Murray, Pige Simpson, Art Woods, L.A. Hightower and Don
Ashby.
Mrs. Kemerling was born in Worcester, New York, March 6, 1879. She is survived
by nine childre: Mrs. Ira McWhirt, Avant; R.E. Kemerling, Hobart; Rex Kemerling,
Bay City, Tex.; Mrs. Estel Evans, Wichita, Kans; Mrs. Josie Walker, Wolco;
Mrs. Winifred Wright, Pawhuska; Kenneth Kemerling, Wichita; Charles Kemerling
and Mrs. Oakley, Barnsdall.
Other survivors are a brother, Rob Milligan, Holyrood, Kan., a sister, Mrs.
Mabel Addis, Victoria, Ill., and 17 grandchildren.

DOWNING
Mary and Levi Downing will be celebrating their 20th wedding anniversary
on February 28, 2000. The couple were married on February 28, 1980 in the
First Baptist Church by Pastor Southern.
September 7, 2000
INFIELD
Mr. and Mrs. Bob Infield will celebrate their 50th Anniversary on September
16. Robert M. Infield married Delores A. Smith on September 22, 1950
at the First Christian Church in Barnsdall. The Rev. Howard D. Johnson performed
the ceremony. They have two children; two grandchildren

KINGSBURY
Ben and Rita (King) Kingsbury were married at St. Marys Catholic Church
in Barnsdall on September 10, 1950. Ben is a Barnsdall native, son of Edgar
and Gladys Kingsbury, and Rita is the daughter of Fair and Agnes King of
Wolco. Celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.
In attendance were Bens sister, Edna Rae, daughter Lillian and son
Stan. Ritas brothers Paul King, and Father Kenneth King were
also there. The Kingsburys six children, their spouses and 12 children
gave a party attended by 80 friends and family members on Saturday, September
9, 2000. On Sunday, the renewed their vows at Our Lady of Grace Catholic
Church in El Cajon, California. (

SHAW
Celebration of the 50th wedding anniversary for Emmett and Pat Shaw.
Emmett Lee Shaw and Patricia Ellen Lembcke were married on May 14,
1950. They have lived in Barnsdall since then. They have three children;
four grandchildren.
