Altus Times

May 16, 1907

Daniel CARMICHAEL of Dunbar, familiarly known as "Grandpa" Carmichael, died Saturday afternoon at 2:o'clock at the home of his son, five and one-half miles northeast of Altus, with whom he had been making his home.
Several months ago, while walking on the streets of Altus with Judge ORR, a board in a defective sidewalk flew up and Mr. Carmichael fell, receiving injuries which it is believed finally caused his death. He was 75 years old and a pioneer settler of Greer County.
The remains were interred in the city cemetary, Saturday at 4:30 p.m. Rev. WALKER of Martha officiating.
