The following photo of the Byron Washington Hillard Farm in Florence Township, Williams County, Ohio was taken in1909. My relatioship to Byron is through his brother Cassius Marcibilus Clay Hillard. They were sons of George Washington Hillard my great great grandfather and Margaret Ann Bordner his wife who were both born in Chatfield, Crawford Co., Ohio and later resided in Williams County. I will list my relationship from George Washington Hillard b. 5 May 1826 and d. 1 March 1877 in Williams County and burried in Eagle Creek Cemetery in Williams County with his wife Margaret Ann Bordner b 6 Sept. 1825 and d. 23 April 1881 in Williams Co., Ohio. Their son Cassius Marcibilus Clay Hillard, b.14 Aug. 1852 in Florence Twp., d. 9 oct 1924 in Ferris Twp., Montcalm Co., buried in the Ferris Center Cemetery Michigan with his wife Olive Sabra Lewis. Jolly Washington Hillard b. 29 May 1881Ferris Twp., Montcalm, Michigan, d. 1 March 1952 in Astoria, Clatsop, Oregon buried in Ocean View Cemetery in Warrenton, Clatsop, Oregon with his wife Maggie Maroah Resler b. 14 Apr. 1882 in Ferris Twp, Montcalm, Mich., d. 2 Sept. 1961 in Astoria, Clatsop, Oregon. Owen Barns Hillard b. 30 May 1906 in Vestaburg, Montcalm, Michigan, d. 18 July 1984 in Long Beach, Pacific, Washington buried with his wife Frances Dorothy Palmberg b. 2 April 1909 in Astoria, Clatsop, Oregon, d. 21 Aug. 1991 in Astoria, Clatsop, Oregon in Ocean ViewCemetery, Warrenton, Clatsop, Oregon. Robert Owen J Hillard b. 14 March 1932 in Astoria, Clatsop, Oregon, married 30 July 1952 in San Francisco, S. F., Clifornia to Jean Patricia Scott b. 7 June 1933 in San Francisco, S. F., California. This is a picture of Mary Jane Laughlin, my Great-Grandmother when she was 16 years of age. She was born 10 april 1852 in Defiance, Defiance, Ohio and was the daughter on John C. Laughlin who was born in Pennsylvania, but lived in West Unity, Williams County Ohio in around 1846. - ROBERT O HILLARD, [email protected]
This letter was written on January 18, 1846. It is 156 years old now. I still have the original in my possesion as it was passed down to me through my father after he passed on. It was originally given to Mary Jane Laughlin the daughter of John C.Laughlin whose brother Phillip Laughlin wrote it to John. Mary Jane passed it to Maggie Maroah Resler Hillard, my grandmother, her daughter and she passed it on to her son, my father, Owen Barns Hillard and then I received it, Robert Owen J Hillard, after my mother Frances Dororthy Palmberg Hillard passed away on 21 August 1991. John C. Laughlin was my gggrandfather on my dad's side of the family. I am a Laughlin researcher as well as Hillards, Reslers, Zuvers, Mercers, Kirtz, Owen, Bailey, Shorthill, Field, Kimball, and others.
