Beginning in 2003, the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War (SUVCW) embarked on the Last Soldier Project. The purpose of the project is to locate and appropriately mark the final resting place of the last Civil War Soldier buried in each county/parish and in each state of this great country. The following photos were taken by Ken Wilson of the Gen. William H. Lytle Camp #10, Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War during the June 20th, 2009 ceremony held at the New Jersey Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Carlisle, Ohio for the unveiling of the plaque that was placed on the grave site of John Cafferty Winters.
