State of Illinois County of Greene On this 26th day of December A.D. One thousand eight hundred and fifty,
personally appeared before me a Justice of the Peace, within and for the
County and State aforesaid, Benjamin Baldwin
aged fifty 59 nine years a resident of Greene County in the State of Illinois,
who being duly sworn according to law, declares that he is the identical
Benjamin Baldwin who was a forth corporal in the company
commanded by Colonel John McConnel, in the War with Great
Britain declared by the United States on the 18th day of June A.D.1812.
That he volunteered at Monongahalia County in the State of Virginia on
or about the 29th day of May A.D. 1812 for the term of six months and
continued in active service in said war for the term of six months commencing
on or about the 16th day of September A.D. 1812 and was honorably discharged
at Fort Meigs on or about the 6th day of April A.D. 1813 as will appear
by his original certificate of discharge herewith presented - -
