John Weaver (1830/31-1910)

John Weaver was born in Winchburg, Germany, September 15, 1831. He came to America with his parents when he was two years of age. The located in Cincinnati where his mother died while he was a small child. His father moved west of Lebanon, Ohio, where John grew to manhood and worked by the month for the farmers in that locality for several years.
When Mr. Lincoln made the first call for men to defend his adopted country - America - he enlisted in Co. F. 12 O. V. I., for three months. He reenlisted in Co. A, 35th O.V.I. and served three years, then he enlisted in Co. C, 2 Reg United States Veteran Volunteer Infantry and served one year making four years and three months.
He was honest in all his dealings and was a good neighbor, always willing to lend a helping hand. His life has been a blessing to many in their hour of need. He was sick for many years with creeping paralysis. But the Lord who cared for him in battle and on the long marches was with him in his sickness. He died September 3rd, at his home in Covington, Ohio.
Funeral services were held at the home September 15. Dr. A. S. Rosenbarger, who had been his physician for several years, preached the funeral sermon, by request of the departed.
He was married September 7, 1881 to Miss Mary E. Edwards of near Lebanon, Ohio, who deeply mourn the loss of a kind companion. the Langston Post attended his funeral and laid his body to rest in the cemetery at Harris Creek, north of Bradford, Ohio.

Mary E. Weaver (1845-1911)

The many friends of Mrs. Mary E. Weaver will be pained to learn of her death which occurred at her home in Covington, Ohio, last Friday the 19th. She had spent the afternoon before with a neighbor and that was the last seen of her until found the next morning where she had fallen. She had never enjoyed good health having been troubled with asthma for years and after the death of her husband, John W. Weaver, which occurred last September. She failed very fast.
She was the youngest child of Lewis and Jane B. Edwards, life long residents of Warren county, her father having lived near Fort Ancient for many years. She was a descendent of Samuel Manning one of the founders of Lebanon. She was born near Lebanon February 6, 1845 and was married to John W. Weaver September 16, 1881.
