OTTERBEIN HOME CENTENARIAN DIES
David Sweazy, 100 Last November, Dies At Home Tuesday

David Sweazy, centenarian, one of the oldest citizens of Warren county, died Tuesday at the Otterbein Home of a complication of diseases resulting from his advanced age. Mrs. Sweazy was 100 years old last November and had spent practically his entire life in Ohio.

Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at Otterbein and the body was taken to Beecher City, Ill., for burial.

Mr. Sweazy was born in Hocking county, Ohio, November 12, 1833. In March, 1856, he married Miss Mary Elizabeth Miller and to this union were born three children, Charles M., Lewis E., and Alverda, all of whom are living. His wife died in 1896.

Since March 16, 1925, he has been a resident of the Otterbein Home near Lebanon. On the occasion of his 100th birthday anniversary last November, over fifty relatives and friends visited Mr. Sweazy at the home. Among the guests were two grandchildren, a great-grandson and a great-great-grandson.

Until the time of his death, Mr. Sweazy took an active interest in national affairs. He often spoke of the first man for whom he voted – John C. Fremont, republican candidate for president in 1856.
