Samuel
Silas Jack
DIED - on Friday evening last, at his residence in Lebanon, at the advanced
age of nearly 73, Mr. Samuel
S. Jack. He was one of the first settlers of Warren County, having
resided in it for nearly fifty years.
Mr. Jack was born in Pennsylvania, but at an early day removed with his
father to Lexington, Ky., from whence, after his father's death, he removed
to this county, with his brothers, John, James, Adam and Joseph.
About eight years ago he was struck with the palsy, which disabled him
and finally caused his death.
During the war with England
in 1812, Mr. Jack was a
volunteer under the late Capt. Sheets, and did good service as a soldier,
for which patriotic duty his country rewarded him with a pension.
Mr. Jack was regarded by
all who knew him as an honest man and a good neighbor, and it is a source
of gratification to his friends to know that his last end was peaceful
and happy.
