HOFF SERVICES THIS AFTERNOON Funeral services will be held on Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock for Ray Hoff age 67 of Mason, who passed away on Sunday at 12:30 p.m. at Christ Hospital in Cincinnati where he had been receiving treatment for a heart ailment for the past three weeks. Rites will be at the Oswald Funeral Home in charge of Rev. Murray Drysdale with interment in the Rosehill cemetery at Mason. Hoff was born on a farm near Hageman and had lived in the vicinity of Mason his entire life. He engaged in agricultural pursuits for many years and until he became ill several years ago was employed by the highway department in the county. He is survived by his widow, Grace, two sons, Lewis, of the Armed Forces in overseas duty, Raymond Reed at home and one stepdaughter, Mrs. Lillian Sherwood, of Lebanon. Three sisters and two brothers also survive, Mrs. Fred Hayner and Mrs. Mayme Hatfield, of Lebanon. Mrs. Minnie Freericks, of Paris, Ill., Dr. W. H. Hoff, of Paris, Ill., and Walter Hoff of Iowa. Reuben Hoff, sr., who lived
between Mason and King's Mills, died last Saturday at the age of eighty-eight.
The grip was the cause of his death. The deceased was the father of ten
children, seven of whom are living. His wife preceded him to the grave about
a year ago. Two years ago Mr. hoff and his wife celebrated their sixtieth
marrige anniversary. The funeral was held Tuesday and the burial took place
at Mason.
MASON Reuben Hoff, an aged farmer residing south of Mason, died Saturday night. He was one of the oldest citizens in this vicinity, and had he lived a few months would have been eighty-nine years old. The funeral took place at his home on Tuesday. PROMINENT CITIZEN DIES AT MASON The funeral services of Mr. Reuben Hoff occurred at the family residence in Mason last Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock, conducted by Rev. Hershey, and the remains were laid to rest in Rose Hill cemetery at that place. Mr. Hoff, who was a retired farmer, was one of the best known residents of Mason. His death occurred on the evening of November 30th and is mourned by a large circle of friends and relatives. He was engaged as a farmer nearly his entire life, but of late years had retired and made his home in Mason. Mr. Hoff was born on which is known as the King Stock farm in Deerfield township on July 8th, 1847, thus being aged 74 years, 4 months and 22 days at the time of his death. He was twice married, his first wife being Miss Emma Hageman, a sister of Rev. R. S. Hageman, by whom he had three children. After her death he married Mrs. Lillie Hageman, who also presented him with three children. Mr. Hoff was a man esteemed by all who knew him, a good citizen, an indulgent husband and kind father. Winona (Sievers) Hoff (1870-1940) NATIVE OF MASON DIES IN ILLINOIS MRS. WINONA HOFF CALLED BY DEATH Funeral services were held at Mason on Saturday afternoon at 4 o'clock for Mrs. Winona Sievers Hoff, 70, who died very suddenly of a heart attack at her home in Paris, Ill., Thursday night. Services were held at Paris on Saturday morning and at the grave in Mason Cemetery were burial was made Saturday afternoon. Mrs. Hoff was a native of Mason, leaving there 44 years ago when she was married to Dr. W. H. Hoff. The deceased is survived by her husband, of Paris, and one cousin, Mary Reibold, of Mason.
