OLD SOLDIER DIES
Morrow - Mr. Hiram Cadwallader passed away Tuesday evening, following a brief illness at his home in East Morrow. He was an old soldier, close to his 87th birthday, one of the few remaining veterans of the Civil War. Funeral services were held in the M. E. church Friday afternoon and were in charge of the W. R. C. Lodge. Interment in Morrow cemetery.

J. L. CADWALLADER DIES TUESDAY
Retired Publisher Was Former Resident of This County
James L. Cadwallader, recently retired publisher of the Washington C.
H. Record-Republican, died Tuesday at Magnetic Springs where he went on
December 26 for rest and treatment, according to word received here by
relatives.
Mrs. Cadwallader who died several years ago was a sister of Mrs.
Chester Hatfield and Miss Mary R. Miller. One daughter, Mrs.
Roy Jarman, of New York, survives.
Mr. Cadwallader was well known to many of the older residents of this
community where he attended National
Normal University and at Mason where he was superintendent of schools
many years ago. He was at one time a member of the faculty of the Holbrook
school.
Before entering the newspaper field 19 years ago as publisher of the Washington
C. H. Record-Republican, he was widely known in Ohio educational circles.
He was formerly superintendent of schools at Greenfield, New Vienna, Leesburg
and taught for 30 years.
Three months ago he and his partner, Forrest Tipton,
sold the Washington C. H. paper to R. Kenneth Kerr and Charles
Sawyer who subsequently purchased the Daily Herald at Washington
C. H., effecting a merger of the properties. Mr. Cadwallader remained
with the new publishers for a short while, but illness overcame him, forcing
him to give up completely all his activities.
He was for nearly 20 years a civic leader in Washington C. H. He was a
member of the Masonic bodies and the Rotary Club. About two months ago
he visited the Lebanon Rotary in which he had many friends.
Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at the residence.
