Sergeant
Morrow C. Gustin, of B troop, Second cavalry, Fort Walla Walla, has
swathed himself and his regiment in glory by winning the department gold
medal in the skirmish firing at Vancouver this week. The honor comes to
the Second cavalry for the first time in its history. Last year Sergt.
Gustin won the division gold medal and division skirmish medal at San
Francisco and a gold medal in the national army competition at Leavenworth.
It is understood that he now takes a place with the “distinguished
marksmen” of the army and will be barred from department and division
contest after this year. He is a Lebanon, (O.) boy. – Walla Walla
