Jane Lyon Allison born Jan. 23, 1808 died Sep. 14, 1882 aged 73 years 7 months 22 days 20 Oct 2014 email from Amy Ford Molyneux email: "My name is Amy Ford Molyneux and I am the great great great granddaughter of Jane Lyon Allison. In clearing out my paternal grandmother’s home, I found these old pictures of Jane Lyon Allison’s gravestone in West Woodville Cemetery?? as well as her old family home in Blanchester OH. I noticed on your website that the photo you have shows that the gravestone is quite weathered. This picture was probably taken shortly after her death by her daughter, Ellen Allison Quinn, my great great grandmother. I do not know if you know this information, but was curious to know if the old house is still standing. In any case, any information you have about Jane Lyon Allison would be greatly appreciated. I have recently discovered after doing a little research that she is was the daughter of an American Revolutionary War Hero, Lieutenant Thomas Lyon, one of the Green Mountain Boys as well as a delegate to the NY Constitutional Convention. She was actually born in Whitehall (Washington County) NY before moving to Harborcreek in Erie PA where she met and married Robert Allison. Thereafter, they moved to Chicago IL and it is my understanding Robert Allison drowned in the river at an early age leaving her a young widow with 7 children, one being my great great grandmother Ellen Allison Quinn, who eventually moved to Mobile AL and made her home here." |
