John Frazier and his wife Malinda (West) Frazier were living in Warren County when he enlisted as a 43 year old Private in the 79th OVI on the 22nd of January 1864. He died of disease less than a month later on 13 Feb 1864. Hundreds of soldiers from Warren County served in this regiment which was originally organized in July of 1862 in Warren, Clinton and Hamilton counties. His gravestone was leaning heavily to the right so that the inscription was hidden by the stone next to it and by the cedar tree sapling that had sprouted up between the two stones. The sapling was removed and the stone was straightened. Lebanon's VFW Post 6069 has provided a G.A.R. flag holder to commenorate the ultimate sacrifice made by Mr. Frazier and his family. |
