Comments:
  • The Bible records information regarding William Dill and Ellen S. Hoff and their family.
  • William Dill was a son of Alexander Dill and Julia Phillips Hall.
  • Eleanor "Ellen" Stuphen Hoff was a daughter of Reuben Hoff and Deborah Monfort
  • William and Ellen S. Dill and their parents are buried in Rose Hill Cemetery, Mason, Warren County, Ohio
  • Inserted in the Bible were two papers. One listed earlier Dill births. The other listed Hall births.
  • Location of the Bible in 1991 was unknown. A large framed picture of the William Dill family was given to a descendant having the Dill surname.
  • Witnesses to the marriage of William Dill and Ellen S. Hoff were Mary Ann Dill and John Hoff. Mary Ann Dill, William’s sister, later married John Hoff, Ellen’s brother.
  • William Dill’s age at death in the Bible appears to have been altered from:
    87 – 9 – 23 or possibly 87 – 7 – 23 to: 87 yr. 8 mo, 23 da.
His obituary shows: 87 years, 8 months and 23 days
The Bible dates and dates on the gravestone in Rose Hill Cemetery are: b 21 Dec. 1827, d 14 Aug. 1915. Those dates calculate to an age at death of 87 yrs. 7 mo. and 23 da.
  • Ellen S. Dill’s dates in the Bible and on the gravestone in Rose Hill Cemetery are:
    b 31 Oct. 1833, d 17 Nov. 1904.
Her age at death in the Bible appears to have been altered from 71 yr. 1? da. to
71 yr. 16 da. That, based upon the dates, is appropriate.
  • The Bible shows:
    William C. Dill b 5 Sept. 1858 d 22 Jul. 1859, Aged 10 mo. 18 da.
A very worn gravestone was located in Dog Street Cemetery (earlier called Dill Cemetery), Warren Co., OH in Nov. 1967:
