The Marietta & Cincinnati Railroad, as now known, runs in a southwesterly course through the township. It was constructed about 1851 and 1852, and now constitutes a part of the Baltimore and Ohio system of roads, and affords the people of the township direct shipping and traveling facilities East and West. Pleasant Plain and Level are the stations on this road in this township. The Muskingum Valley Railroad, leading from Cincinnati to Zanesville, touches the township on the north, and was built about 1856. Hicks is the only station on this road in Harlan Township. |
