I am looking for the family of John MILLS and his wife Harriet possibly HARPER. John was born in 1830/1831 in Perry Ohio. In 1870 I found a census with John 39, Harriet age 34, Hiram 13, Alvin S. 9, CARRIE ANN 8 born 1862, Mary L. Zbester (could not make out) 3, Albert 2, Robert 6mo. My interest is Carrie Ann. This family moved at some point to America City in Nemaha, Kansas. I found a newspaper article telling of Robert M. Travis and Carrie A. Mills marriage on May 22, 1884. Then I found a death notice for Carrie that she has died of typhoid fever 5 yrs. later in 1889. I am interested in Carrie and Robert Travis children if any where born.

My great great grandmother was living in Wilkesville, Vinton, Ohio according to the 1860 US census. Her name was Margaret GROUNDS and she was living with a Jemima GROUNDS, James GROUNDS, and a 4 year old named Susan F. SULLIVAN, born 1855 in Ohio. I think that Margaret GROUNDS was a common-law wife to my great great grandfather, Victor SULLIVAN, born 1832 in Pa, but living then in Ohio. I cannot find any marriage records on Margaret and Victor. I'm wondering if Susan might be their daughter. I'm interested in any information of any of those names. I'll be glad to pay for your time.

I believe the PONN'S old homestead, currently located on Covered Bridge Road, was first owned by James BARNES who owned 133 acres there. James BARNES had a daughter, Alice BARNES, who married Samuel PONN @ 1870s. I believe James BARNES, willed the farm house to Samuel and Alice PONN before his death. Can anyone confirm this information? I believe Maxie PONN, Clair PONN's stepmother, was the last owner I know about. Who currently owns the PONN homestead above mentioned?

Would it be possible to request a Marriage record lookup? I don't really need the marriage record, just the maiden name for the lady. Joseph C. CARPENTER, b. ca. 1863, was married to a lady named Cena, b. ca. 1878. They are in the 1900 Vinton Census with a daughter, Annie J. age 7/12, so I estimate they married 1898. Joseph C. CARPENTER died in 1914 and Cena remarried to Ransford/Rancie SLAGLE ca. 1916. They are still in Vinton in 1920, moving to Pickaway after 1920.

Margaret and David are listed on page 49 of the 1850 Athens County Ohio census and page 237 of the 1860 Athens County Ohio census. Margaret is listed as a widow on page 259 of the 1870 Athens County Ohio census. Margaret DAWSON married John COULTER on August 31, 1879 in Vinton County, Ohio. Margaret and John are listed on page 61C of the 1880 Vinton County Ohio census. A Lizzie Hutchison (age 21) is living with them and is listed as their niece. Does anyone have any further information on Margaret (parents, siblings, death date and location, etc.)? I'm particularly interested in determining the identity of her parents to see if she ties into my Hutchison line, who also lived in Gallia and Vinton Counties during this same time period.

Nathan BREWSTER, was born in New Windsor, Orange Co., NY in 1738, was a Rev. War Vet., 4th NY Militia, a "Bounty Land" warrant holder in Otsego Co., NY (~1790-1815), moved to Marietta, OH in ~1817, and became a Pensioner in Athens Co. in 1832. He died in (then) Athens Co. (now Vinton Co., formed brom Athens Co. in 1850), in 1842. His widow, Hannah PARKER, born to Nathan PARKER and wife Hannah CHAPMAN PARKER in 1768 in Wallingford, CT, and to whom he married in 1797 in Otsego Co., NY, died there in 1855. She is believed to have been buried in or near New Plymouth. I would like to locate their exact burial location and cemetery. They had some 6 children, including a Martha BREWSTER (HOFF) (1802-1892) (my GGgrandmother, and wife of Powell HOFF) and a John Chapman BREWSTER.

NY in the 1860 census for Swan Township, Vinton Co., OH. His wife is Phebe 56, b. PA. Does anyone have any information about this Turner family.

HARTLEY died February 15, 1946, Wilkesville, Vinton, age 82y7m5d. This couple married in or before 1890 and had the following children: Enoch R. "Russell", Sadie, Thomas A., Eugene, Bessie M. In 1900 the couple resided in Huntington, Gallia, Ohio. In 1910 and 1920 the couple resided in Wilkesville, Vinton, Ohio. Seeking info of Rebecca (DICKERSON) EVERETT. According to on-line info Rebecca married Daniel Franklin EVERTS/EVERETT March 20, 1872 in Gallia, Ohio. According to her father's biography Rebecca was residing in Hamden. This couple is found on the 1880 Wilkesville, Vinton, Ohio census with the following children: Sarah A., David A., John, Thomas. I find no further info about the family after 1880.

I am trying to find information on my Great Grandfather, William SHRIDER. He was born in Reading Township, Perry, OH approx. in 1861 and is buried in Hopewell Township, Perry, OH. He died on March 3, 1935. In an 1880 census he is listed as living in Lafayette, Allen, OH. His wife's name was Pheobe J. and at that time he had a 1 month old son, Walter. If this is the right William SHRIDER in later years they had 5 other children .. Erma, Levi, Ellen, Charley and Effie. Levi is my Grandfather. In the early 1900s William and Pheobe and all the children except Effie and Walter moved from Lima, OH to Illinois. I know very little about her except her name, Anne or Annie WRIGHT (her husband may have been Charles but, records are vague.) She would have lived on route 2 in McArthur in the 40's and 50's. At that time she would have been long widowed. Where her home was is called Wright's Hollow by locals to the area. (I know it exists, I've been there!!) Also, anyone seeking information on the TRIPP family (line of William Henry Augustus TRIPP) may contact me.

I'm looking for imformation about William MARK(S) and wife Mary JONES who came to Vinton Co., Oh. about 1830 and also the family of Edith THOMPSON-THOMSON. William and Mary had a son named Jacob MARK(S) who married Edy (Edith) THOMPSON-THOMSON in Athens Co., August of 1834. I have never been able to find Edith's THOMPSON-THOMSON family in 4 years of searching. On all census records of where Edith can be found it states that her parents were from Ireland. Thompson-Thomsom has been a hard name to research. I do know that after Jacob MARK(S) and Edith THOMPSON-THOMSON were married they lived in Athens Co., Lee Twp. instead of near Jacob's family in Vinton Co., Vinton Twp. Any help finding Edith THOMPSON-THOMSON family would be greatly appreciated. Jacob MARK(S) was born abt. 1810 Oh. and Edith THOMPSON-THOMSON abt. 1811 in Oh.
