SWINEFORD

I desire to communicate with descendants of Benjamin C. Swineford, a Civil War soldier who was born and died in Van Wert. I have civil war letters written by and to him I would like to share.

TROUP, WASHBURN, PRIEST, COBB, STESS
My mother's name was Eileen Troup married to Gordon Washburn. Eileen's parents were Voight Troup married to Francie Sheffield. Voight Troup's parents were Aaron Troup married to Laura Priest. Aaron Troups' parents were Andrew Troup married to Hannah Cobb. Andrew's parents were George Troup married to Rachel Jane Stess. I have visited the library in Van Wert within the last year and found an obit for George Troup as well as a record of marriage for his son Andrew. Andrew and his wife Hannah Cobb lived in Savannah in Ashland County and he is buried there. He was a veteran of the War with Mexico in 1846 - 1847. I know less about George and his wife Rachel Stess other than they lived in Van Wert County, had a family and had come from Adams County, PA in the late 1840's. I would like to find out if he and his wife are buried in a local cemetery there and which cemetary that is as well as anything else I can find out. Please feel free to contact me.
Sincerely, Stephen E. Washburn, Highland, Indiana, April 2011

HOLTREY, HOLTRY

My family emigrated to Van Wert County in the 1850's. Some spelled it Holtrey, some Holtry. Most are buried in the Mohr Cemetery.
Several years ago, I located and restored two of the stones, and straightened a third. This family fought in the Revolutionary War and
the Civil War. Great-great Grandpa John married Elizabeth Hoaglin, and they built a cabin on what is now Hoaglin Creek.
If you're related, I would like to hear from you.

MORIARTY

Looking for the surname of Moriarty, particularly interested in any information connected with GILBERT MORIARTY (d. 1853), buried in Westside Cemetery, Delphos.
The line of the Moriarty family of particular interest stems from the Rev.Peter Moriarty (b. 1758, Maryland; d. 1813, NY) and his wife
Rebecca Burling (b. 1765, NY; d. 1834, NY); continues with his son Gilbert Burling Moriarty (b. 1800, NY), m. 1820, Clermont Co., OH,
Avey Ann Ranson. Could this Gilbert be the one buried in Westside Cemetery? Any assistance would be most gratefully appreciated.
