ANNA FRESHOUR

ANNA FRESHOUR DIES AT AGE 74; ILLNESS OF ONE MONTH PROVES FATAL TO WOMAN. September 3, 1867 - April 23, 1942 - Mrs. Anna Freshour, 74, died at 6:20 a.m. Thursday, in her home in Springfield, Route 4, following an illness of one month. Mrs. Freshour was born in Ross County, Ohio, where she was a member of the Methodist Church, but she had resided in Springfield for the past thirty years. Surviving are five daughters, Mrs. Clara Burkett of Sydney, Ohio, Mrs. Maude Kelly of Dayton, Ohio, Mrs. Emma McKee, Mrs. Flossie Miesse and Mrs. Dorothy Sheley of Springfield; three sons, Fred and Harley of Springfield and George of Jackson, Ohio; 26 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. The body was removed to Richards funeral home. [NB: Anna is buried in Ferncliff Cemetery in Springfield, Ohio.]

FLETCHER FRESHOUR

Fletcher S. Freshour, 81, of 5315 Selma Pike died at 8 a.m. Wednesday in Community Hospital. He had been in failing health for six months and had been serious for the past two days. A resident of Springfield for 46 years, Mr. Freshour retired from the DT and I Railroad in 1954 after 45 years of employment. He was born in Ross County, January 21, 1891, the son of John A. and Della Cochenour Freshour. Mr. Freshour was a member of the Pentecostal Church of Christ, Anthony Lodge No. 455, F and AM; Valley of Dayton, Scottish Rite and the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers. Survivors include five daughters; Mrs. Gertrude Adkins of Grove City, Calif., Mrs. Edith Foss of Tampa, Fla., Mrs. Ada Ruth Satterfield of Washington Courthouse, Mrs. Virginia Haines and Mrs. Lillian Mowell, both of Springfield; three sons, Stanley, Clyde and Malcolm, all of Springfield; a sister, Mrs. Carrie Rose of Columbus, 16 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren as well as a number of nieces and nephews. Friends may call in the Richards Memorial Home from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday. Anthony Lodge will conduct ritualistic services there at 7:00pm Thursday. Funeral Rites will be conducted at 1:00pm Friday in Pentecostal Church of Christ by Rev. Cecil McCarty. Burial will be in Enon Cemetery.

FRED FRESHOUR

Fred M. Freshour, 89, of 3992 White Road SE, Washington Court House, died at 12:15 a.m. today in Hustonճ Nursing Home, Hamden. A private funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at the Kirkpatrick Funeral Home, New Holland. The Rev. Earl J. Russell will officiate and burial will follow in New Holland Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home 7-9 p.m. Saturday. A native of Ross County, he was born March 16, 1888, to Benjamin and Mildred Freshour. He was predeceased by his wife, the former Elizabeth Helsel, who died in 1969. The retired carpenter is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Albert (Jessie) Conley, Chillicothe, and Mrs. Ruth Lyons, Dayton; five grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

FRED FRESHOUR

Fred W. Freshour, 61, of 716 W. Columbia St. died at 12:15 p.m. Saturday in a Dayton hospital, following an illness of three years. Born December 25, 1890, in Chillicothe, he had resided in Springfield for 51 years. A molder by trade, he was employed at the Robbins and Myers, Inc., plant until his illness. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Merle Freshour; a daughter, Mrs. Carmen Bennett, Westminster, Ohio; a son Fred, Columbus; two brothers, Harley Freshour of Springfield and George of Kalamazoo, Michigan; four sisters; Mrs. Flossie Miesse and Mrs. Dorothy Shieley, both of Springfield; Mrs. Maude Kelley, Dayton and Mrs. Clara Burkett, Sidney, Ohio; and two granddaughters. The body was brought to the Rose Funeral home.

IVA FRESHOUR

ILLNESS OF FOUR WEEKS IS FATAL - Mrs. Iva D. Freshour, 70, of 531 York Street died at 5:25pm, Tuesday [21 Sep 1937] in the City Hospital, following an illness of four weeks. Although born in Ross County [26 Apr 1867], Mrs. Freshour had been a resident of Springfield for 46 years. Survivors are: her husband, John; two sons, Glenn and Clyde Freshour of Springfield; three brothers; Richard and William Jones of Springfield and Charles Jones of Cedarville; one sister, Mrs. Rebecca McDonald of Springfield; one grandson, Clyde Freshour Jr., of Springfield and one granddaughter , Mrs. Ruth Jones of Springfield. The body was removed to the Jackson funeral home, from where it will be taken Wednesday afternoon to the residence of her son Glenn at 24 East Southern Avenue. Funeral Service will be held Friday at 10:00 am in the son's residence. The Rev. C.A. Sundberg, D.D. Pastor of the Second Lutheran Church will officiate. Burial to be made in Ferncliff Cemetery.

JOHN FRESHOUR

JOHN A. FRESHOUR DIES AT AGE OF 84 - John A. Freshour, 84, died at 7:55am Friday in the home of his son, Fletcher S. Freshour, of 811 East Pleasant Street. He had been ill for 22 months. Born in Ross County, November 20, 1860, he was the son on Alexander and Elvina Freshour. A retired railroad car inspector, he had been a resident of Ross and Clark counties all his life. He was a member of the Christian Union Church in Ross County. Survivors are two sons, William B. of Osbourn, Route 1 and Fletcher with whom he lived; two daughters, Mrs. Margaret Vince and Mrs. Carrie V. Rose of Columbus; one half brother, Frank Reaster of Dayton; four half sisters, Mrs. Myrtle Freshour of Springfield, Mrs. Jane Johnson, Mrs. Hattie Alexander and Mrs. Sally Nunley all of Ross County; 29 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. The body was removed to the Richards Memorial Home.

JOHN FRESHOUR

John W. Freshour, 92, of 531 York St., a resident of Springfield for 60 years, died at 9:50 am Monday [06 Oct 1952] in City Hospital. He was hospitalized September 30, following a coronary attack. Retired since 1930, Mr. Freshour had been a bridge carpenter for The Big Four Railroad. He was born in Ross County, August 9, 1860, a son of Nathan and Nancy Freshour. Survivors include two sons, Clyde and Glenn of Springfield; a brother James of Washington Courthouse and four grandchildren and four greatgrandchildren. Mr. Freshour's wife, Iva, died in 1937. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 am Thursday in the Jackson-Lytle Funeral Home by the Rev. Alvin Ross, pastor of the Blessed Hope Baptist Church. Friends may call at the funeral home after 6 pm Tuesday. Burial will be in Ferncliff Cemetary [Clark County OH].

LOUISA FRESHOUR

Following an illness of about two months, Mrs. Louisa Della Freshour, 68, wife of J.A. Freshour of three miles west of Enon, died at 4:30pm Thursday at her home. Funeral Services will be held at 7:00pm Saturday at the residence. Burial will be made in the Enon Cemetery. Mrs. Freshour had been living near Enon for the last year. She was born near Chillicothe, Ohio. She was a member of the Christian Union Church. Surviving her are her husband; four sons, William of Portland, Maine, Fletcher of Springfield, George of Detroit and Harvey of Massillon, Ohio and two daughters; Mrs. Harriet Vince and Mrs. Carrie Rose, both of Grove City, Ohio.

MARGARET FRESHOUR

Mrs. Margaret Freshour, 86, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Cora Schwartz, of 116 S. Schaffer St., Monday, at nine a.m. She is survived by Mrs. Schwartz and two sons, Harley, of this city (Springfield) and Sam of Chillicothe. The body was taken to the Kearns Funeral Home in Bainbridge, Ohio. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m. in the M.E. Church at Bainbridge, with burial in the Bourneville Cemetery.

MYRTLE FRESHOUR

Mrs. Myrtle A. Freshour, 83, of 521 Doris Dr., a Springfield resident most of her life, died at 8:00 pm Monday [20 Aug 1968] in Mercy Hospital following one year of failing health. Mrs. Freshour was born in Ross County, January 23, 1885, the daughter of Hiram and Elvina Knoch Reaster. Survivors include four daughters, Mrs. Beatrice Sutermaster, Mrs. Ruby Burkhardt and Mrs. Carole Kelly, all of Springfield and Mrs. Donna Matthews of Aurora, Colorado; two sons, Riley of Springfield and Philip of Seattle, Washington; 12 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild and one sister, Mrs. Sally Nunley of Chillicothe. Her body was taken to the Richards Memorial Home.

WILLIAM FRESHOUR

William Webster Freshour, 57, of 322 East St., died in the City Hospital at 4:10 pm Monday [28 Dec 1942], following an illness of one month. He had been a patient in the hospital since December 15. A native [12 Feb 1885] of Ross County, Mr. Freshour had been a resident of Springfield for the past 40 years. He had been employed by the Champion Company. Surviving are the widow, Myrtle; two sons, Philip, of Springfield and Riley, serving in the United States Army, stationed at Camp White, Oregon; five daughters, Mrs. Beatrice Turner, Mrs. Ruby Burkhardt, Miss Carol Freshour, and Miss Donna Freshour, all of Springfield, and Mrs. Ruth Swearigen of Xenia; two brothers, John of Springfield and James of Washington Courthouse; one sister, Mrs. Lou Penrod of Ross County; and two grandchildren. The body was removed to the Richards Memorial Home.
