CHARLES COX

Charles D. Cox, 61, of Charleston Pike, died 3:35 a.m. July 4, 1992, at the Medical Center Hospital fowllowing an extended illness. He was born June 29, 1931, in Ross County, to Darrell and Ruth Graves Cox. On Feb. 1, 1952, he married the former Rosemary Neff who survives. Also surviving are his mother, Ruth Cox: son and daughter-in-law Dwight Steven and Karen Cox, grandchildren, Heather and Daren Cox, all of Chillicothe; and a sister, Peggy Hammond, Hallsville. He was preceded in death by his father and a brother. Mr. Cox was employed by Mead Corp. for 38 years and was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, having served during the Korean Conflict. Graveside funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Mt. Carmel Cemetery with Rev. Donald Meece officiating. Calling hours will not be observed. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association. Arrangements are under the direction of the Fawcett Oliver Glass and Palmer Funeral Home.

DARRELL COX

Darrell D. Cox, 63, Route 4, True Hollow Road, retired 42 year employee of U.S. Corp., died at: 1:45 p.m. Thursday in the Chillicothe Hospital. Service: 2 p.m. Sunday at the Fawcett-Oliver and Glass Funeral Home the Rev. Jack Norman officiating. Calling hours: after 4 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Burial Mt. Carmel Cemetery. Survivors: his wife, the former Ruth Graves, whom he married on May 25, 1920; a daughter, Mrs. Lowell (Peggy) Hammon, Route 2, Kingston; two sons, Dwight, Route 6, and Donald E., Chillicothe; eight grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Marion (Geraldine) Allen and Mrs. William (Margaret) Allen, Route 4, and Mrs. Kenneth (Oma) Moody, Route 3; and two brothers, Ralph, Route 6, and John, Circleville. Predeceased by his parents Granville and Eloda Maxson Cox.

ELODA COX

Mrs. Eloda Rebecca Cox, 57, Route 4, died in Chillicothe hospital at 3:38 p.m. Friday after an illness of more that five weeks. Born September 26, 1890, she was the daughter of Eleanor Albers Maxson. She had been a resident of Ross County for 48 years. In 1907 she married Granville Cox. She was a member of the Church of Christ in Christian Union on North High Street. Surviving beside her husband are three daughters, Mrs. Marion Allen, Mrs. William Allen and Mrs. Kenneth Orville Moody, all of Rt 4; four sons; Ernest Cox, Ralph Cox, and John Cox of Chillicothe, and Darrell Cox of Rt 4 Chillicothe: two sisters, Mrs. J.L. Thornton, Circleville, and E. L. Clark, Chillicothe; and three brothers, Manon Maxon, Kingston, George Maxson, Rt. 6, and James Maxson, Chillicothe. Services will be held athe Jefferson Avenue Church of Christ in Christian Union at 2 p. m. Monday. Burial under the direction of the Fawcett funeral home will be in Greenlawn cemetery. Friends may call athe home of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Orville Moody, Route 4 after 6 p. m. Saturday.

ERNEST COX

Ernest W. Cox, 45, died unexpectedly at his home, 698 Adams Ave., at 8:30 a.m. Sunday of a heart attack. No. 3 inhalator squad administered oxygen in an attempt to revive him. A resident of Chillicothe most of his life, we was born May 22, 1908, a son of Granville M. and Eloda Maxson Cox. On December 14, 1929, he married Glayds McCartney who survives. Mr. Cox was a member of the Eagles Lodge and was an excavator for 22 years. In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Carlene Mae, Ada Catherine, and Sandra Lee, all at home: seven sons, Ernest W. Jr. of Columbus: Granville M. with the Army in Germany: Robert H: Lawrence E: Roger E: Jackie W: and Stephen C., all at home; three sisters, Mrs. Marion Allen, and Mrs. William Allen, both of Route 4: and Mrs. Orville Moody of Route 3: three [sic] brothers, Ralph of Route 6 and John of Route 3: and three grandchildren. Arrangements are being made by Fawett Funeral Home.

GRANVILLE COX

Granville M. Cox, 62, of 280 East Fulton Street, Columbus, died at Grant hospital there at 2 p. m. Wednesday, after an extended illness. A resident of Columbus for 28 years, as a truck contractor for K and R Iron and Steel Metal Co., he was a native of Richie County W. Va. where he was born Feb. 6, 1888, the son of William and Martha McDonald Cox. He was married in 1907 to Eloda R. Maxson, who died Oct. 10, 1947. He is survived by three daughter: Mrs. Marion Allen, Mrs William Allen and Mrs. Kenneth Orville Moody, of all Route 4; four sons, Ernest and John of this city and Darrell, Route 4, and Ralph, Route 6; a sister, Mrs. Everett Collins of this city, and Clarence of Columbus; 37 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Services will be conducted at the Fawcett funeral hone at 2 p. m. Saturday with the Rev. B. H. Dixon officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 6 p. m. Thursday.

MARTHA COX

After an illiness of three weeks, Mrs Martha A. Cox died Tuesday at 8 a.m. at her home, 911 Jefferson Avenue. She was born in Tyler County, W. Va., Jan. 23, 1864, the daughter of Jacob and Susan Carico McDonald, but had spent the last 39 years in Ross County. She married Sept. 1, 1881 to William L. Cox who died in 1922. She was a member of the High Street Church of Christ. Surviving are two brothers, Charles McDonald of Washington County, Ohio, and Bryon McDonald, Chillicothe; one granddaughter, Mrs. Evertt Collins, Chillicothe; five sons, David, Floyd, and Martin of Chillicothe, Granville of Columbus, and Clarence of Chillicothe Rt. 2; 24 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren. One son and one daughter preceded her in death. Services will be conducted from Friends Church in Londonderry. Thursday at 2 p.m., with the Rev. James Rinehart officiating, and burial will be in Londonderry Cemetery under the direction of Fawcett's funeral home. Friends may call at the residence on Jefferson Avenue after 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, until 1 p.m. Thursday.

MARTIN COX

Martin L. Cox, 64, of 911 Jefferson Ave., died at 8:30 p.m. Saturday in Chillicothe Hospital. He had been a bus driver for 13 years with Public Transport Inc. A native of Tyler Co. W. Va., Mr. Cox was born November 14, 1898, and was the son of William L. and Martha McDonald Cox. On July 22, 1933, he was married to Arminta Mae Honnald, who died September 16, 1955. He is survived by a son, Martin Jr., at home: a sister, Mrs. Pearl Collins of 915 Jefferson Ave., and a brother, Clarence M. of Cedar Lake, Indiana. Mr. Cox was predeceased by four brothers and four sisters. He was a member of the Church of Christ and Christian Union, where services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday with the Rev. Ben Pugh officiating. Burial, under the direction of the Heiby Memorial Home, will be in Greenlawn Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral Home after 4 p.m. Tuesday.

MARY COX

MRS. EDWARD COX DIED FRIDAY NIGHT; FUNERAL SERVICES HELD MONDAY P.M. FROM METHODIST CHURCH - This community lost one of its oldest and most respected citizens on Friday night, April 27, when Mrs. Edward Cox, after a three day's illness, passed to the Great Beyond. Mary Elizabeth Wisecup, daughter of Joseph and Phoebe Wisecup, was born and reared and lived most of her life in this community, being seventy-eight years of age at the time of her death. She was married in early youth to Zaachariah Cokonougher. To this marriage were born six sons and two daughters: William, Joseph, John, and Harvey Cokonougher, and Mrs. Myrtle Storts and Mrs. John Schmidt. Her husband died about thirty years ago and two sons, Charles and Adtson also preceded her in death. In 1912, she was married to Edward Cox, who survives her, and to whom together with the children the sympathy of the community is extended. Funeral services were conducted Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the M.E. Church with Rev. L.O. Lineberger officiating. Interment in South Salem Cemetery.

RUTH COX

Mrs. Ruth Pauline Cox, age 42, 600 Glencroft Ave., died September 29, 1958, at 2:35 p.m. Monday in Chillicothe Hospital after a lingering illness. She was born Sept. 10, 1916 in Chillicothe, predeceased by parents Charles M. and Clara Mae Seymour Gray. Surviving are her husband, Roy Cox; two daughters, Mrs. Ruth Ann Cottrill Spindler, Chillicothe, and Miss Celia Mae Cox, at home; a son, Roger, at home; two sisters, Mrs. Norma Jean McCabe, Chillicothe, and Mrs. Emma Frances Park, Route 6; and three brothers, Charles Gray, Chillicothe, Ralph Gray, Route 7, and Paul Gray, this city. A sister, Mrs. Catherine Louise Strouse, predeceased her. Mrs. Cox was a member of the Chillicothe Baptist Church. Services held at the Ware Funeral Home with the Rev. James Williams officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery.

RUTH COX

Ruth Cox, 86, of Chillicothe, unexpectedly passed from this life Sunday morning February 13, 2000, at her residence. She was born March 13, 1913, in Ross County, the daughter of Walter W. and Sadie Steinbrook Graves. On May 25, 1929, she married Darrell D. Cox, who preceded her in death September 27, 1973. Surviving are one daughter and son-in-law, Margaret (Peggy) and Lowell Hammond, Kingston: one daughter-in-law, Rosemary Cox, Chillicothe: eight grandchildren, Rev. David Cox, Rusty Cox, Timmy Cox, Cindy Cox, Cheryl Cox, Steve Cox, Tammy Hill and Terr Mitchell; seven great-grandchildren, Brandon Hill, Rylie Hill, Colt Mitchell, Darby Mitchell, Heather Cox, Darren Cox and Bailee Cox; one great-great-grandchild, Peyton Hill; and special friends, Patty, Donna and Kathyrn. Her parents and two sons, Dwight and Donald Cox, preceded her in death. Mrs. Cox retired from U.S. Shoe in 1982 after 43 years of service. She was a member of Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church, Elmdale Grange and United Methodist Women. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, February 16, 2000, in the Mt. Carmel United Methidist Church, with Rev. Glen Giles and Father David Cox officating. Burial will follow in Mt. Carmel Cemetery. Friends may call at the church from 11:00 a.m. untill the hour of the service. Momorial contributions may be made to the Mt. Carmel Church. The Fawcett Oliver Glass and Palmer Funeral Home is serving the family

WILLIAM COX

William L. Cox, of Harrison Township, passed away at 6 a. m. Tuesday at his home there after an illneess of a year and half due to a compliction of diseases. He was born November 24, 1854. His wife, seven children, Samuel of Londonderry, David of Harrison Township, Grandville and Floyd of Chillicothe, Mrs. Everett Collins of Liberty Township, and Martin and Clarence at home, three sisters, Mrs. Ulysses Riddle and Mrs. Jacob Clay of Pensboro, WV, and Mrs. John Hawkins of Sardis; two brothers, Caleb and James of Central Station, WV, and fourteen grandchildren survive. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Friends Church, Londonderry with Rev. George Weir of this city, officiating. Interment in the Londonderry Cemetery.
