BENJAMIN MILLER

Benjamin F. Miller, 63, farmer, died August 25, 1940. Born January 30, 1877 in Chillicothe. He married Ann Elizabeth Medert on February 19, 1902. Survivors include a son, Russell M. Miller of Penn.; a daughter Marguerite at home; brothers, George W., Henry C., and John, all of Frankfort; and a sister, Mrs. Lena Fry of Mt. Sterling. Burial in Grandview Cemetery.

ERSIE MILLER

Ersie E. Miller, 87, of Springfield, Ohio, died Tuesday, February 13, 1996, at his residence. Born September 1, 1908, in South Salem, Ohio, he was the son of Joseph and Julia Miller. He retired in 1973 from the Springfield Public School System after 44 years of teaching. He also taught at South Salem, West Liberty and Englewood. He was an active member of the Covenant Presbyterian Church where he was in the choir for over 30 years, taught Sunday school and served as a lay minister. He covered Shawnee H.S. basketball and football games for the media from the school's first season in 1958 until 1991, when the school honored him by naming a new weight training facility in his honor. He graduated from Whittenburg University in 1929 with a degree in history and later completed his masters degree at Ohio State University. He was a Past Master of Mad River Masonic Lodge F & AM 161 and the York and Scottish Rites. On December 20, 1941, he married Ruth (Shumaker) Miller, who survives. Also surviving are one daughter, Julia of Springfield; three sons and daughters-in-law, Dane and Mary Louise Miller of Warsaw, Indiana, Neal and Heidi Miller of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Grant and Barbara Miller of Newark, California; and eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Covenant Presbyterian Church in Springfield with the Rev. Thomas Stout officiating. Burial will follow in Ferncliff Cemetery. Friends may call from 3-8 p.m. Friday at the Jones Kenney Zechman Funeral Home in Springfield, where a Masonic service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Donations may be made to the Ersie E. Miller Scholarship Fund at the College of Wooster.

FORREST MILLER

Forrest S. Miller, 74, of 7070 Good Hope Road, Frankfort, died at 12:20 a.m. Sunday, May 18, in St. Luke Convalescent Center, Washington C.H. A retired farmer, Mr. Miller was born Dec. 25, 1911 in Ross County. He was the son of Joseph Albert and Vada Belle Harper Miller. On Oct. 14, 1934, he married Georgia Bell Kimmey, who survives. Other survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Tom (Anna Lee) Starr of Washington C.H. and Mrs. Don (Sue) Sever of Frankfort; three grandchildren; five sisters, Mrs. Olive Parker and Mrs. Ida Stuckey, both of Greenfield, Mrs. Thelma Hudnell and Mrs. Bernice Cockerill both of Leesburg, and Mrs. Marie Cockerill of Frankfort; two brothers, Wesley Miller of Leesburg and Orville 'Happy' Miller of Bainbridge. He was preceded in death by a brother, Ralph. Service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Fisher Funeral Home, Frankfort, with the Rev. Glen Herman officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday. Memorial contributions may be made to the Concord Township Emergency Squad.

GROVER MILLER

Grover C. Miller, 71, of 2033 Woodside av., a retired employee of the Eagle Tool and Machine Co., was dead on arrival of the Fire Division emergency squad at 12:21 a.m. Friday at his residence. Death which occurred at approximately 11:50 p.m. followed two years of failing health. Mr. Miller, a resident of Springfield for the past 52 years, was born in Ross County Jan. 12, 1893, a son of George and Amelia Steinmetz Miller. Survivors include his wife, Pansy, a son, George Miller, two daughters, Mrs. Mary Knotts and Mrs. Lola Hahn, three grandchildren and one great-grandchild, all of Springfield, and a sister, Mrs. Minnie Williams of Columbus. The body was taken to the Richards Memorial Home."

HENRIETTA MILLER

Mrs. Henrietta E. Miller died at the City Hospital, Chillicothe, on Sunday morning last at 7 o'clock, after a long illness from cancer of the cervix, for which an operation was performed on Friday of last week. The deceased was 39 years of age, and the wife of George Miller, of South Salem, and leaves beside the husband, seven children. The remains were brought to South Salem and the funeral was held Tuesday and internment made at South Salem.

MABLE MILLER

Mable M. Miller, 73, 430 S. Fourth St., Greenfield, died at 10:15 a.m. Saturday at Greenfield Municipal Hospital after a lingering illness. She was a member of Sulphur Springs United Baptist Church. Born Dec. 4, 1901, in Ross County, she was the daughter of John Grieves and Lillian Child Grieves. On Dec. 27, 1919, she married Rev. Noble C. Miller, who survives. Also surviving are a son, Earl F. Miller, Greenfield; a daughter, Mrs. Esther Vance, Columbus; one sister, Mrs. Irvin (Helen) Pryor Jr., Greenfield; two brothers, Ralph Grieves of Columbus and John Grieves, Las Vegas, Nev.; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by four children in infancy, one brother and three sisters. Service was held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Sulphur Springs United Baptist Church under direction of Murray Funeral Home. Burial followed in Greenfield Cemetery.

NANCY MILLER

Mrs. Nancy Miller of Lower Twin, died Thursday after a long illness, and was laid to rest in the South Salem Cemetery.

Mrs. Nancy Miller died Wednesday, Jan. 11. Dr. D.R. Moore, of South Salem, conducted the funeral services. Interment at Salem.
[Nancy was the daughter of Daniel Hixson (1771-1848) and Rebecca (DeVoss) Hixson (c1792-1856), and the wife of Thomas Garland Miller (1826-1869).]

NELLIE MILLER

Nellie Marie Miller, 83, 1004 S. Limestone, Springfield, died at Good Shepherd Nursing Home, Springfield, at 7:30 p.m. Saturday. Born in Ross County June 29, 1891, she was the daughter of Joseph A. and Julia Smart Miller. She was a retired school teacher, having taught 10 years in Ross County and 37 years in the Springfield city schools. She held a bachelor of science degree from Wittenburg University and was a graduate of Buckskin Valley High School, class of 1914. She was a member of the local, state and national Retired Teachers Association and the Covenant Presbyterian Church. She is survived by one brother, Ersie Miller, Springfield; a niece, Mrs. Charles (Julia) Kussmaul, Hillsboro; three nephews, Dr. Dave Miller, Warsaw, Ind.; Earl Miller, Columbus, and Grant Miller, Obo, Ohio; and six great-grandnieces. She was preceded in death by a sister, Visie Lattie. Service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the chapel of Covenant Presbyterian Church, officiated by Rev. Richard Whittington. Burial will follow in Greenfield Cemetery, with graveside service at approximately 2:30 p.m. Fiends may call at the Jones Funeral Home, 733 S. Limestone st, (SR 72), Springfield, from noon to 9 p.m. Monday. The family will receive friends from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday.

ROY MILLER

Roy C. Miller, 79, Lyndon Rt. 1, died Thursday at 7:05 p.m. in Greenfield Municipal Hospital. Born Oct. 3, 1889, in Ross county, he was a son of Thomas D. and Alice Poole Miller. He was a World War I veteran, and was a retired carpenter. Service will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. in the Murray funeral home. Interment will be made in McDonald cemetery, Lattaville. The American Legion will accord military honors. Mr. Miller is survived by a sister, Mrs. Ethel C. Toomey, Amelia Rt. 2, and three nephews.

THOMAS MILLER

Thomas Darbyshire Miller passed away 02 Jun 2000 at Good Samaritan Hospital, Cincinnati. Tom was born 07 Dec 1959 to Chet and Cherry Darbyshire Miller of Bainbridge. He is survived by his parents, wife, Pamela; four children, Jill and Amy Teeter, Chaz Campton, and Liz Vaugh; two brothers, Bill (Sandy) Miller and David Miller; two nephews, BJ and David Lee; a niece, Tiara; many close relatives and a host of friends. He was predeceased by his grandparents, Lucille and Bill Darbyshire, Bainbridge, and Ruth and Clarence Miller, Marshall OH. Due to an illness when Tom was a junior in high school, he was forced to be on dialysis for the next 26 years of his life. Tom graduated from Wilmington High School and attended both Southern State College and the University of Cincinnati, when his health permitted. For the last several years, Tom was the manager of the family-owned Seven Caves. A memorial service will be held 7 p.m. Tuesday, 06 Jun 2000, at the Bainbridge United Methodist Church, with Reverend Harold Shimfessel and Dr. Randy Hardman officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until the time of service Tuesday at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Kidney Foundation of Cincinnati, 2200 Victory Parkway, East Walnut Hills, Cincinnati OH 45206.
