These militia rosters are from the papers of Col. Abraham Hegler, which now are in the Ohio State Museum. He was born 1790 in Hardy County VA.

Poll Book of an election held at the house of Jason P. Phillips in Old Town Sept. 3rd, 1830 for the purpose of electing a Captain to command the Old Town Light Infantry in the place of Capt. Peterson, promoted. George Hire and Christian Coiner were judges, and Jesse Shepherd clerk, who being severally sworn according to law, the following votes were given. Alexander Carr, Foster Carmean, and John Hite appointed Judges and John J. Davis, Clerk (sworn)

Died at the residence of his father, Colonel Abraham Hegler, in Concord Township on the 6th Instant, Adjutant Adonijah Hegler in the 23rd year of his age. After the death of this amiable and promising young officer, a meeting of the officers of the First Light Battalion, 1st B., 16th D.O.M., to which he belonged, was held at the house of T. Rittenhouse in the Town of Frankfort for the purpose of adopting some measures expressive of their feeling on the occasion. Lieutenant Colonel M. Peterson was called to the Chair and Erasmus Tulley appointed secretary. The following resolutions were unanimously adopted.

Resolved that the officers of this Battalion have received with sensibility and deep regret, the intelligence of the death of their esteemed and much respected Brother Officer.

Resolved that the officers of this Battalion as a mark of respect for the memory of the deceased, will wear crepe on the left arm on the days of summer and fall parade.

Resolved that the officers of this Battalion do embrace this opportunity of expressing their feelings of sympathy with the bereaved parents for the unexpected and premature death of their promising son.

Resolved that a copy of these proceedings be forwarded to the Editors of the Chillicothe Advertiser and the Scioto Gazette and Whig, for insertion, and one to the Parents of the Deceased.
