The Pike County Genealogical Society met Sunday, June 24, 1973 at the home of Mrs. Bernice K. Francis. Only seven members and one visitor were present; the visitor became a member before she left. The following business was transacted:
1. Action taken to deposit our funds in a savings instead of checking account.
2. Changed meeting day and time to 7:30 PM on the last Tuesday in each month.
Please note this on your calendar.
3. Agreed to meet on day later to be selected to check the tombstone readings in Evergreen Cemetery in Waverly. If the readings Mrs. Francis has are corrected and completed, then publication of same can be considered, either in separate pamphlet form or in one of the Ohio Genealogical Magazines.
4. Mrs. Francis reported several requests form people living away from Pike
County for information on joining our Society. Several of these have sent
dues, so we will have to consider means of keeping them posted on our work. Some have promised help.
5. Our membership now totals 32. The remainder of the afternoon was spent browsing thru the genealogical books, charts, notebooks, maps, magazines, etc. in the Francis’ Library.
Mrs. Francis announced that in order to share these things, and give everyone enough time to explore them, that she will hold open house, for members only, any (or each) Friday night from 7 PM until ??, provided that she is notified by phone that someone is coming.
(She doesn't want to have to stay home if no one is coming!) These books are not to be loaned out, but are to used on these Friday evenings.
Next regular meeting, 7:30 PM Tuesday, July 31st, at the home of Mrs. Francis, 110 Columbia Drive, Waverly.
