Ruth White Crabtree of Waverly, Ohio
Descendant of David Sampson and Sarah Brouse.
Descendant of John Beachamp Prettyman. John, originally from England, came to Delaware with his parents where he served an apprenticeship to a tailor. He married Elizabeth Prettyman in Lewiston, Delaware in 1808, first to the Pickaway Plains, then near Portsmouth and finally settling in Pike County in 1816 where John died in October 1821 Elizabeth remarried in Pike County. She died in California (now Stockdale) on May 18, 1871. John and Elizabeth had three sons and nine daughters. Other names associated with the Beacuhamp Family include Kirpatrick, Wycoff, Yeager, Buck, Brown, Gordon, James, Samson, and Bennett.

Helen Seeley of Piketon, Ohio
Descendant of Ezekiel Slaughter and his wife, Letitia Thompson, who came to Pike Co. about 1813 from Berkeley County, Virginia now part of West Virginia. Ezekiel and Letitia were early settlers in the Beaver area and reared their family of four sons and three daughters in Beaver Township. Other early Pike County families associated with the Slaughter, include Miller, Cochran, Martin, and Sampson.
Descendant. of David Samson and his wife, Sarah Brouse. David as native of Massachusetts, married Sarah in Martinsburg, Berkeley County, Virginia, now West Virginia. The family came to Ohio in 1802, settling first near Portsmouth (then known as Alexandria) and moving to the site of present day Stockdale in Pike County, known in earlier days as California, in 1816. David and Sarah had five sons and four daughters. Other Pike County names associated with the Sampson Family include Bradford, Brown, Bennett, McDowell, Beauchamp and Slaughter.

Jean Gilbert Wilson of Urbana, Ill.
Descendant of Nathan Clinton Howard, Sr. and his wife, Nancy McDugal, who were married in Scioto County, Ohio Nov 9, 1813 and lived near the present day site of Piketon before emigrating around 1825 to Vermillion, Ill. Nathan and Nancy had six sons and three daughters. Nathan died 1834 in Vermillion, Nancy died 1863.

Marlin A. Lovensheimer of Ross County, Ohio
Descendant of Henry & Elizabeth Brown. Henry was born on a farm one mile from Piketon, Ohio. His father moved to Pike County from Virginia. Henry worked on the farm, attended school and operated the
Brown's Watermill. He died February 1829 in Pike County. Their children were Nathan, Mahlon, Samuel, Mary, Fanny, John, Reason, Eden, Peter, Albert, Elizabeth, Margaret & Henry.
Other names associated with the Brown Family are Moore, Lucas, & Cross. Our approved descendant Marlin A. Lovensheimer lived in the Ross County area most of his life.

Descendant of Levi & Catherine Morris, as per will of Levi Morris dated 1824 in Pike County, Ohio. His daughter, Deborah Morris married Bayliss Murphy of Virginia in April 1821 in Pike County, Ohio. Bayliss Murphy lived in Pike County per 1820 census and later they lived in Illinois.

Descendant of John & Margaret Hines. John was born 1791 in Delaware and Margaret was born 1800 in Virginia. They were married August 1818 in Pike County. Children of the John & Margaret Hines were Mary, William, Nancy, Glorian, John Jr., Thomas, Benjamin and Margaret. John lived and died 1840 in Pike County. Margaret died at Clinton, Ohio in 1883.

Descendant of Levi Walls, Jr & Susan Harmarson. Levi Walls, Jr was born in Delaware abt 1779 and his wife, Susan Harmarson was born in Delaware. Both died in Pike County, Ohio.

Levi, Jr. were living in Pike County according to the 1818 tax list of Pike County, and his wife were listed before Pike County was established in 1807, according to a newspaper interview.
