Virginia Horner Hinds, 95, of 444 Cherry Street, Waverly, died 3:30 pm Thursday, March 6, 2003, at Bristol Pavilion and Convalescent Center Waverly.
     She was born on February 24, 1908, in Southwestern Pennsylvania, the daughter of the late Eli and Emma (Spielmeyer) Horner.  Virginia was raised in Southwestern Pennsylvania where her father was a teacher and principal of the elementary schools she attended.  She graduated from the Uniontown High School and for several years worked as a bookkeeper for the Fox Grocery Company.
     On June 16, 1945, she was united in marriage to Frederick S. Hinds who preceded her in death on October 29, 1984.
     Surviving is a nephew: Robert Franks of North Olmstead, Ohio     
Virginia and Frederick traveled throughout the United States after retirement, until they settled in Bristol Village in the 1960s.  She was very interested in genealogy and wrote and published a book on the Horner family for which she won a $50 award for the best genealogy book published that year.  She also was a member of the Pike County Genealogy Society.  Virginia was very interested in music and had played in the Bell Choir at the village.  She attended the Grace United Methodist Church, Waverly.
     Memorial service will be scheduled at a later date and Burial will be in Evergreen Union Cemetery, Waverly.
     Arrangements are under the direction of Boyer Funeral Home, Waverly.
