He was born on May 15, 1939 in Buchanan, the son of Charles DeWitt and Helen M (Dyke) DeWitt Ratliff. He was a retired forklift operator and a veteran of the U.S. Army.

He was born on May 15, 1939 in Buchanan, the son of Charles DeWitt and Helen M (Dyke) DeWitt Ratliff. He was a retired forklift operator and a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was preceded in death by his father and one brother, Donnie DeWitt. He is survived by his mother of Waverly, one foster son, James W. Butler of Piketon; two brothers, Rodger V. DeWitt and wife Myra and Charles D. DeWitt and wife Marilyn both of Waverly. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday at Boyer Funeral Home of Waverly with Brother Chuck DeWitt and Rev. J. William Acord officiating. Burial will follow in Waverly Evergreen Union Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday and from 9:00 a.m. until the service on Friday.
