Edgar Grooms
     Edgar (Newton) Grooms, 62, a native of this county, who has been residing at 149 Park Street, Chillicothe, died at 6:10 A.M. July 17 [1957] at the Chillicothe Hospital after an illness of four months.
      Born in Pike County on April 5 1895, he was a son of Thomas and Emily Bruce Grooms.
     On August 5, 1918, he was married to Eliza Jane Raybourn, who survives. Also surviving in addition to his wife are three daughters, Mrs. Forrest Drummond, Mrs. G. Warren Gray and Mrs. Charles Coppel, and a son, Nolan D. Grooms, all of Chillicothe; two brothers, Perry Grooms of Peebles, Route 1, and G. C. Grooms of Chillicothe; and 13 grandchildren.
     Mr. Grooms was a veteran of World War One, a member of the High Street Church of Christ in Christian Union, and secretary of the Carribbean Mission. Funeral services were held at 2 P.M. Friday at the High Street Church of Christ in Christian Union in Chillicothe with Rev. Floyd Terry officiating.
     Burial followed in Greenlawn Cemetery there. Friends called at the Ware Funeral Home until time for the final rites.
