Nov 1, 1900 Excerpts from the obituary of Capt. Joshua Davis published in the Waverly News:
Joshua Davis, a brave and loyal veteran of the Civil War--died at the home of his son L. H. David(sp) on Fourth Street, on Saturday, October 27th.
Capt Davis was one of this county's oldest and best-known citizens, having been born February 22, 1829. He was married January 5, 1854 to Keziah Lewis, of this county, and to them ten children were born.
