S. H. HAMILTON

     S. H. HAMILTON DIES SUDDENLY---Waverly Produce Dealer, Expires last Saturday---WAS VERY ACTI'E IN CIVIC AFFAIRS---Had been an Odd Fellow for 60 years and a Mason for 50 years.--- Samuel H. Hamilton, 80, produce dealer in Waverly for the past sixty years as senior member of the firm of Hamilton & Brothers, and prominent in civic, business, fraternal, church and political circles, died at the Chillicothe hospital Saturday at 7:15 a.m. following a week's illness due to complications. He was admitted to the hospital on Tuesday of last week.
     He is survived by a son, James Hansel Hamilton, of Waverly, a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Kathleen Hamilton, of Walnut Street, Waverly where he had made his home; four grandchildren, Samuel D. Hamilton, with the Navy in the Southwest Pacific; Mary Chloe Hamilton of Los Angeles, California; Mrs. Jean Counts, of Chillicothe, and Mrs. Virginia Baes-Smith, of Canada.
     Since its opening about 25 years ago he had been a member of the Board of Trustees of the Mt. Logan Sanatorium. At the time of his death he was Pike County jury commissioner, a post he had held for 15 years. He was the president of the Official Board of the Waverly Methodist church, a 50-year member of the Waverly Orient Lodge of Masons, No 321; and was one of the first members of the I. O. O. F., in Greenfield, later transferring to Waverly Lansing Lodge, No 369, members of which gave him a 60-year membership pin at a special celebration just a few days ago. He was also a member of the Modern Woodmen of America.
     He was a lifelong Democrat and several years ago served as clerk of the Pike County Board of Elections.
     Funeral services were conducted at the Waverly Methodist church by the pastor, the Rev. N. H. Bradley, Monday, at two p.m. and interment was made in the Waverly cemetery under the direction of the A. M. Gregg Funeral Home.
