PENN, Carl  - Former Pike Auditor dies.
Funeral service for Carl W. Penn, 75 year old farmer and a former Pike County Auditor, of Waverly, Route #2 were held at 2 P.M. at the Botkins Funeral Home here with Rev. Eugene Brown, pastor of the Waverly Methodist Chuch officiating.  Interment followed in Evergreen Cemetery.
     The native son and prominent Democrat, succumbed at 6 A. M. Friday, October 12, 1962 in Pike County Hospital.  He had been in failing health for several years.
     Born on September 18, 1887 in Pike County to Thomas E. and Mary (Leeper) Penn, he married Grace A. Toumine on July 4, 1912.  She survives.
     Also surviving are two dauhters, Mrs. Chester Way and Mrs. Miles Smith, both of Waverly; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Mrs. Frances Toumine, Route 2, Waverly and Mrs. Melva Beekman of Idaho.  He was predeceased by three sisters and a brother.
      Mr. Penn was a member of the Waverly Methodist Church and the Odd Fellows Lodge of Latham.  He was a former school teacher in Pike County, seved as county auditor for a 16-year period and was a member of the Ohio State Tax Commission for four years.
     He also had been a member of Pike County Board of Education since 1945, and was a member of Pike County Fox Hunters Association, The County Agriculture Committee, Fish and Game Protective Association and the Paint Valley Gun Club.
