Grooms, Hazel
Waverly, Ohio - Mrs. Hazel Grooms , 72, R #2, Waverly, Leeth's Creek Community, died unexpectedly at 7 a.m. Wednesday at her residence.  she had been in failing health for several years.
     She was a member of Bond's Chapel Church of Christ in Christian Union where service will be held at 2 p.m. saturday with the Rev. tim Rapp officiating.  Burial will be in Mt. Latham Cemetery under direction of the Boyer Funeral Home.
    Friends may call at the Grooms residence after 4 p.m. Thursday.
    Born on April 22, 1898 in Adams County, she was the daughter of Alvaro & Anna Burns Herdman.
    On August 23, 1916 she was married to Elbert L. Grooms who died on February 17, 1957.
     Surviving are two sons, Paul of Idaho, and Elbert Jr. of Latham, three daughters; Mrs. Naomi James, Route #2, Waverly; Miss Norma Grooms at home and Mrs. Ruth Stulley, 213 S. high Street, 20 grandchildren, 31 great - grandchildren, a brother, Russell Herdman and a sister, Mrs. Goldie Newman, both of Lynchburg.  She was predeceased by a brother and a son, Given, who was killed in Italy while serving in the armed forces during World War II.
