FLOYD E. (TORTIE) CRABTREE

Floyd E. (Tortie) Crabtree,  66, of New Vienna, Ohio was dead on arrival at Clinton Memorial Hospital in Wilmington, Wednesday, January 9.  The son of Charles Crabtree and Levina Skidmore, he was born September 27, 1907 in Pike County.
     He is survived by his wife, Mina Parker Robinette; one stepson, Logan Robinette of Cincinnati; one sister, Mrs. Dessie Leeth of Waverly.
     Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Church of Christ in Christian Union, Morgantown, Ohio with the Rev. James McCain officiating.  Burial will follow in Gardner Cemetery.
     Friends may call at the Smith Funeral Home in New Vienna any time after noon Friday.  The family will be at the funeral home from 3;30 to 5:30 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.

Charles W. Davis

Charles W. Davis,  50, of Lakeland, Florida died Wednesday, May 21 in the Veterans Administration Hospital in Tampa, Florida.
     A native of Pike County, he was born in 1925, a son of Olan and Florance Davis.  He was predeceased by his parents and one brother.
   Funeral service e were held over the weekend at the Eentry-Morrison Funeral Home in Lakeland, with burial following in the Lakeland Cemetery there.
     Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Betty (Sweeney) Davis, at home; two daughters, Beverly, at home and Elaine Davis of Texas; two brothers, Louis M. Davis of Bainbridge and Parrel Davis of Chillicothe; and two sisters, Mrs. Irene Borst of Yellow Springs, Ohio and Mrs. Helen Chester of Jeffersonville.

Ray Downard

Ray Downard,  58, of Route #3, Lucasville, died at 1:15 p.m. Wednesday in Portsmouth, following an extended illness.
     Mr. Downard was a retired Chef at Lake Minne Washa, New York.
    A native of Pike County, he was born on November 29, 1915, a son of James O. and Sallie (Eard) Downard.
     Surviving are two daughters, Miss Agnes Ann Downard and Miss Margaret Ruth Downard, both at home; four sisters, Mrs. Nelle Arnold, Mrs Dellay Davis, and Miss Wilma Downard, all of Route #3, Lucasville; and Mrs. Mary Stowers of Ostrander, Ohio; and one brother Obey Downard of Roanoke, Virginia.
    Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Scioto Baptist Church with burial following in Scioto Cemetery under the direction of the Howe Company Funeral Home of Piketon.  Friends may call at the funeral home after 4 p.m. Friday.
