Knabe Brothers

1917 Knabe Brothers Factory advertisement for player pianos
Knabe Brothers Company was a piano manufacturer located at Section Ave. and B. & O. R.R. in Norwood. Knabe Brothers acquired the Smith & Nixon Piano Manufacturing Company (a.k.a. Smith-Nixon) around 1911. Both the Smith-Nixon and Knabe Bros. names continued to be used. The owners, William and Ernest J. Knabe, filed for bankruptcy in December 1916. The company was still in business the next year, as this player piano advertisement from April 1917 shows. Later, the Norwood site was used by the Trumbull Electric Manufacturing Company.
