Edwin Louis Jucker

Edwin Louis Jucker was born in Norwood on July 8, 1916, and died February 2, 2002, Callawassie Island, South Carolina. According to the 1920 Census, 3½ year-old Edwin and his 5 year-old sister lived with their parents at 2232 Feldman Avenue. Edwin's 31 year-old father, also named Edwin, was employed as a sheetmetal worker. Young Edwin attended Norwood schools, but he left in the early part of his first year of high school to attend Cincinnati's old Woodward High School. After graduation from high school, he went to the University of Cincinnati, where he was on the basketball, baseball, and golf teams. In 1961 and 1962, he was the basketball head coach, when his teams won the national championship. Later, he was head coach for the Cincinnati Royals professional basketball team, which played not far from Norwood at Cincinnati Gardens.
