Before 1900 the major religious groups in Ohio were the Lutheran, Methodist, Baptist, Presbyterian, Episcopal, Society of Friends (Quaker), and Roman Catholic churches. These and other minority groups included the German Lutheran and Mennonites settled in Muskingum county.
