DELANO, HARRIS, MC COLLUM, YOUNG posted by Mary Urban on Sunday, April 4, 1999

Looking for more information about the South Bloomfield HARRIS family. John HARRIS (b 1815 VA) md Almira DELANO (b 1817 OH) in Nov 1835 in Knox Co. OH. In 1840, they are living next door to a Rebecca HARRIS (age 50-60) who has 2 females 15-20 in her household. Are these John's mother and sisters? By the time John and Almira sold their land in 1849, Bloomfield had become part of Morrow Co. In 1850 they appear in Miami Co. IN, but by 1860, Almira is back in Morrow Co., with five of their children. I am assuming John had died and she had returned to their former community. Daughter Alvira Jane md Joseph MC_COLLUM in 1859 in Morrow Co. but they later move to Iowa. Daughter Mary Mariah md Thomas Jefferson YOUNG in 1866 in Crawford Co. OH. Any suggestions or information appreciated. Mary Urban, 1314 West 890 South, Provo, UT 84601.

BEAMER, POPE, RYAN posted by Deanna on Tuesday, April 6, 1999

Seeking information on the RYAN family. I have received several leads that point to Morrow County via land records as well as Stark County in the north and/or Clinton/Brown Counties in the South. Also have a census record pointing to Hardin County, but can't seem to find the missing link. Family history lists the RYAN family as native american indians who were "on the move" making them difficult at best to trace. Any leads appreciated. The family line to date includes the following: James RYAN b. 1821 d. 1907 married to Eve Ann BEAMER b. 1859 d. 1883. They potentially had several children, but can only confirm one to date and that is James Henry RYAN b. 1850 d. 1911 who was married to Nancy Ann POPE and had 2 children: Eldora Bell RYAN and Reuben RYAN. Potential connection to a Meshak RYAN and his children, but not yet confirmed. All leads of interest.

CARPENTER, MITCHELL posted by Don Carpenter on Monday, April 19, 1999

I am looking for information on my ggrandfathe, Armenius CARPENTER. The only information that I have about him is that he married a Naomi MITCHELL on October 19, 1852 in Morrow County, Ohio. I got this information from an 1870 census from Steuben County, Indiana. There is also the possibility that his oldest daughter. Anne Belle, may have been born there in 1855. I have no idea where he came from nor where he moved to other than the same census listed another daughter Mary who was born in Illinois in 1860 and my grandfather Louis Mitchell Carpenter who was born in Pleasant Lake, Indiana in 1865. If there is any information available would you please share it with me?

CONKLIN, HENDERSHOT posted by Jon Tooley on Saturday, April 24, 1999

I am searching for information on the Nathaniel Shafter HENDERSHOT family who lived in probably Chesterville, Chester twp., Morrow County, Ohio between 1860 and 1870. In particular I am in need of census data from 1860 and 1870 on this family. This family came from Sussex Co. NJ to Morrow or Franklin Co., Ohio after 1851. This family later left Morrow Co. for Lawrence Co. MO. Nathaniel Shafer HENDERSHOT served in the CW in Co. 'K' of the 174th Ohio Infantry for about a year and his enlistment county was Morrow. The 1860 and 1870 census data would help confirm some birth location and birth date criteria for members of this family. Nathaniel Shafer HENDERSHOT dob=March 19, 1824 in Sussex Co., NJ. Spouse was Matilda CONKLIN dob=Jan 22, 1827 in Warren Co., NJ. This couple would have had a total of 6 children prior to 1860 and a total of 9 children prior to 1870. Any 1860 and or 1870 Morrow Co., census information would be most appreciated. Jon Tooley of Billings, Montana

SORRICK, TROUP posted by Randall Brunner on Friday, April 30, 1999

I am looking for Peter SORRICK, b. 1800 Berks Co. PA. He married Lydia TROUP and came to the Morrow Co., Marion Co. area about 1834 with his family. Peter and Lydia had about eleven children, some of which were born in Ohio. Peter died Sept 16 in Morrow County, OH. I would like information on Peter or Lydia and would welcome any and all SORRICK information between the years 1820-1870 from this area. Although there were many Sorricks in PA, they hailed from the Huntingdon/Blair Co. area and I have been unable to tie them together with my Berks County, PA line.
