BURNHAM, BURT posted by Jane Peppler on Monday, April 6, 1998

Searching for any information on the following: Aden/Adin BURT (b. 1843 Ohio); Alvira or Almira BURNHAM BURT (b. 1846 Canada); Marian/Marion BURT (b. 1868 Wisconsin); Arminta BURT (b. 1870 Ohio); Willis BURT (b. 1873 Ohio); Imogene BURT (b. 1878 Ohio). Imogene is my great-grandmother. This family was found in Cardington, in the Morrow County Ohio Census of 1880, so I assume the last of these children were born in Cardington. Please get in touch if you have information. Jane Peppler, 5301 Cedronella Drive, Chapel Hill, NC 27514

DEWITT, WEAVER posted by John G. DeWitt on Sunday, April 19, 1998

I am a beginner researching the surnames of my family. They lived in Marengo and Mt. Gilead in the late 1800's and early 1900's. Fletcher Amos DEWITT, my grandfather, was County Recorder for a time, also a teacher and farmer. My grandmother was Kate WEAVER DEWITT and their children were, Glen, Florence, Paul and Harold Hobart DEWITT, my father. Any help or suggestions on getting started would be appreciated. All I need to know is how to access the proper records.

BROWN, CRONK, EVANS, FROST, MCNAIR, MCNEAR posted by Steve Brown on Saturday, May 9, 1998

Seeking information on FROST, CRONK, and BROWN of Morrow County, from around 1835-1855. They migrated to NW Illinois and/or central Iowa in the early 1850's. In 1852, Nancy (EVANS) FROST and Isaac FROST's daughter Mary married William Henry CRONK (b. NY, 1829) at or near Mt. Gilead. By 1853 they were living in Tama Co. Iowa. Very interested in determining the name of William Henry Cronk's father. Father & CRONK family migrated from Westchester Co. NY sometime after 1829. The BROWN's were "passing through" migrating to Franklin Grove in Lee County, Illinois. Also seeking information on Henry FROST (son of Isaac & Nancy FROST) and his wife Phebe (MCNAIR/MCNEAR) FROST.

ALLMAN, CLARK, ROWAN posted by Anne Benson on Monday, May 25, 1998

Nicholas ALLMAN married Peggy (CLARK) ROWAN in WV. Peggy was a widow with a young son, William CLARK ROWAN. Her first husband was Thomas Cornelius Howard ROWAN. Nicholas is listed in Ohio Land Warrants in 1820 in Morrow County (one is listed as Delaware, so must be in the area where the counties changed) and Family Tree Maker states he is in the 1840 Ohio Census. I do not have access to that census. He is probably in Westfield Twnshp, as that is where I later find William ROWAN. I would like to get in touch with anyone having information on this family.
