How to Visit and Contact the Genealogy Library

The VISITING address is 35 East High Street. The library is on the south side of East High Street, at the corner of the first long block east of the Victory Shaft (don't count the alley). It is catty-corner across the street from the Courthouse, and just west of the NEW main library building. The sign says "Library Annex". Park in the lot just South of the building, with access from Center Street. There is a ramp entrance on the East side of the building.

Brief List of Holdings
On Microfilm: County Newspapers - Sentinel from 1869 to 1983; Independent from 1874 to 1983; and Cardington Republican from January through July of 1872. Also on microfilm, census records from Morrow and surrounding counties from 1850 to 1920, marriage and probate records from 1848 to 1926, and an index to the 12 volumes on the shelves containing the Roster of Ohio Soldiers 1861-1866. Several drawers contain thousands of microfiche records of family information from the United States and several European countries which have been submitted to the International Genealogical Index based in Salt Lake City.

Also available are the 1880, 1911, and 1989 Histories of Morrow County; the 1857, 1871 and 1901 Historical Atlases of Morrow County; surveys of all the county's cemetaries; a collection of Mt. Gilead High School yearbooks dating back to 1922; REPRINT of the 1895 Delaware, Morrow and Union County Biographical History, and over 80 books of local family histories.

Special New Addition to our Genealogy Library:
The volume Personal War Sketches, presented to James St. John Post No. 82, Cardington, Ohio many years ago, has been copied and placed on file in the Genealogy Library. These records are Grand Army of The Republic personal war sketches and cover the period of 1836 through 1845. These records show the name and records of service of men from the Cardington area. The records are indexed and place of burial is listed. This is an excellent resource for those researching ancestors who served in the Civil War from the Cardington area.
