DAVIE, DAVY posted by Arthur J. Davie on 10/16/97
Looking for any info on a Tom DAVIE who lived in Youngstown area around 1900. Interested in both his ancestor/descendant lines. He was a cousin of my grandfather (James H. DAVIE) and his brother (John L. DAVIE ), who was the Mayor of Oakland, CA for several terms. Relationship was on their mother's side, Ellen DAVIE or DAVY (maiden name same as married name).

ECHTERNACH, ECHTERNACHT, ECHTINAW posted by Ralph Echtinaw on 11/29/97
Peter and Rebecca Echtinaw (or Echternach, or Echternacht) moved to Mahoning Co from Lancaster Co, PA in 1835. They had most of their children there, then moved to Michigan in 1854. At some point Peter changed the last name from Echternach(t) to Echtinaw. My guess is that the change was made when they moved to Ohio, and I'd love to know why.
