Hi Knox Co. Researchers,

I have been on this list before and returning to post again an ancestor of mine that is vital to my genealogy research.

CAROLINE REBECCA JOHNSTON, [b. Abt 1831 in Maryland]. m. on Dec.25,1856, JOHN HENRY STOCKETT [b.1835 in A.A. Co. MD]

I have good reason to believe that CAROLINE was a sister of my gt gt Grandfather, Daniel Johnston and that John Henry Stockett was a brother of Henrietta H. Stockett, my gt. gt. grandmother.

Would anyone with knowledge about Caroline Rebecca (Johnston) Stockett or her husband John Henry Stockett please contact me.

Hank in Baltimore, MD

I am looking for any record or clue to find the death date and place
of my ancestors, David Wadsworth and his wife Eleanor(Capen)Wadsworth.
David was born in 1764 in Stoughton,MA and married there in 1788.
About 1810 the family moved to Pittsford,Rutland Co.,Vermont. There
children were:
Eliza(d.y)
Samuel(b.1789), married Sarah Lemens, died in Iowa
Azuba(b.1791), married Bartholomew Hewett, possibly died in Gilead,Branch Co.,MI
Milly(1795-1839), married George Burditt, died in South Dansville,Steuben Co.,NY
Lucy(1797-1842)
David Jr.(1800-1832), died in Ohio, children: Eliza,Timothy,Hannah, David W.
Eleanor(1808-1832)

According to a Family History written by Milly's daughter Almeda Burditt Allen in 1905. David Wadsworth Jr., and his brother-in-law, George Burditt(husband of Milly), were on there way to Mt.Vernon,Ohio in 1818, where a sister of David's already resided(Azuba Hewett). On there way to Ohio they stopped in Dansville,Steuben Co.,NY to visit George's sister, Sarah Burditt Hendee. After visting with them, George decided to remain in Dansville, however David Jr. continued on to the "far west- Mt.Vernon,Ohio" ..... "In the Fall of 1831, there came a knock at the door. There were father, mother, widowed sister and two children on there way to Ohio where two brothers and two sisters were awaiting them. After visiting about four or five weeks with there daughter Milly and family they took their departure never more to meet."

Does anyone know of this Wadsworth family in the Knox County area or could help me find out when and where they died. I am in the process of proving my father's ancestry back to a Mayflower Passenger, the line goes through David Wadsworth's mother, Abigail Lyon. The death date and place of David is about the only thing I lack of a compete record.

Thank you for any help and suggesstions.

Researcher: Virginia Skander

Date posted: Friday, February 5, 1999

I was given your list address by a genealogical buddy, Donna Booth, who says Maggie is the GURU of Ohio Genealogy. First of all, I'm sorry I subscribed wrong. Thank you for going ahead and putting me on the list.

I plan to go to Western Reserve to do some more research and could use some advise on where to look for info. Here is my background information:

William H. Koontz b. 1846 VA m. 29 Dec 1864 in VA to Barbara A. Holler b. 1846 VA. The next record I have for them is the birth of their daughter, Delia Ann Koontz, in 1868 in Homer, Licking Co., OH. In 1875, Delia was attending the Ohio School for the Deaf in Columbus, and her school records show that her parents were living in Knox Co., OH, and that she had a brother, George, and a sister, Libbie. I have been unable to find any other record of them in Licking Co., OH, Knox Co., OH, or any OH census records. I have been unable to find any information on George or Libbie, who I believe might have been born before Delia. I don't think Barbara went four years without having a child in those days. So, it's possible they were born in VA, but I found no record of them there. William fought in the Civil War with the VA Cavalry for one month in 1862. The only papers available were his medical discharge papers. They didn't have anything on them about his family, but he wasn't married until two years later.

The next info I have is when Delia married Frank R. Brown in 1890. I have been unable to find any death records for William and Barbara. William wasn't mentioned in his father's Will in 1900 in VA, but old family photos would indicate that he was still alive then. I can't swear that the photos are William and Barbara, just a process of elimination and some guessing. So, it is possible he wasn't living by 1900.

I really need some advice on where to look for some information on this group on my next trip to Western Reserve. Any advice on that or anywhere else I might be able to dig up some info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for any help you can give me. Ginny
