KELL posted by Ellis E. Kell, Jr on Sunday, April 2, 2000

Any information on KELL genealogy/ancestors would be much appreciated. My gr-gr-grandfather, George W. KELL, was born in Steubenville, Ohio in 1822. He came to Illinois in 1835 with Daniel Edgington, and co-founded the farming town of Edgington. I do know that George W. Kell was a devout member of the Methodist Episcopalian Church, and a respected member of the Orangemen (Loyal Orange Order) here in Illinois. I have yet to make the connection between George W. (and his father - one of many John Kell(s)) with the KELL pioneers (Scots-Irish) who originally settled in North/South Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Georgia, later moving on to Kentucky, Tennessee, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois and beyond. I'm am searching to find where the original link back to Ireland, Scotland, England (or Germany?) exists for our branch of the KELL tree.

HAUGH posted by John J. Haugh on Monday, April 17, 2000

I am a direct descendant of an Irish immigrant family. They landed in Philadelphia on March 17, 1849. According to an obituary, they stayed in Philadelphia area for two years, then went to Wheeling, W. Va, then to "Stebbinsville, Ohio". I assume that newspaper in fact was referring to "Steubensville", which is your county. If my math is correct, they should have filed their petitions to naturalize, declarations of intention and final record of naturalization in your ( Jefferson, carved out of Washington ) County, in 1853-54. We know they went to Minnesota, to homestead, in 1855. The names of each family member, and their birth years ( In County Clare, Ireland ) are: John HAUGH ( 1806 ) Hanora ( 1812 ) Edward (1831 or 32 ) Michael (1846) and Mary (1836 ). I would dearly love to find these documents. Happy to pay for search time, copying, etc.

HOUSEHOLDER, HOUSHOLDER, JACOBS posted by Anna D on Wednesday, April 26, 2000

I am researching for a HOUSEHOLDER family. Have info on a Joseph HOUSEHOLDER, b ca 1803 in PA. On his marriage certificate to Louisa JACOBS in Randolph Co (W)VA in 1865, he states that he is the son of Joseph & Sarah HOUSEHOLDER and was born in Allegheny Co PA. I have been unsuccessful in locating these parents. For a short time, specifically between 1874-1877, Joseph and Louisa resided in Ohio as two of their children are listed as being born there. I have noticed that there are numerous HOUSEHOLDER/HOUSHOLDER families in the 1830 and 1840 census, listing these families as residing in Knox and Saline twps. There is a Joseph, so now I am interested if his wife might have been Sarah. I will look at the 1850 census to see if Joseph's wife is Sarah, but in the meantime, does anyone have connections/info regarding the HOUSEHOLDER's?

FITHEN posted by Jill Burns on Monday, May 29, 2000

I have been searching for William FITHEN 1830 and 1840 Census. I did not find him in either one of the Census. While searching the internet I found a Willilam Fiffing in the 1840 Census Wells Township, Jefferson County and on the same page as Daniel Bell who I think was William's father-in-law. Is there anyway that you check the 1840 Census on Page 151 for Wells Township, Jefferson County is living close to Daniel Beel. My William Fithen and William Fiffing are the same person. If you can help and this would also be help to you, I would appreciate it. I still did not find Wm in 1830 Cenus but feel he may have lived close to Daniel in 1830 also. William is in 1820 and 1850 Census. Thanks again.
