GREENWOOD, MCCRORY, TAYLOR posted by Karla Staudt on Thursday, April 2, 1998

I am looking for any information you can give on the descendants of Lillie MCCRORY TAYLOR and about her life. She was born circa 1839 in Ireland. I do not know when she actually moved to Jefferson County, but I suspect it was about 1848 or later. Lillie MCCRORY married Thomas B. TAYLOR, 25 April 1867 in Jefferson County, Ohio. They spent their married life there. The 1902-3 Steubenville City Directory lists Lillie's address as 901 Sixth St. She was widowed at that time. Thomas TAYLOR died 10 March 1893. Lillie died 26 March 1914 in Wilkensburg, PA. Both Thomas and Lillie are buried in Union Cemetery, Steubenville, Jefferson County. My GG Grandfather Joseph GREENWOOD is buried with Lillie and his funeral was held in her home. He spent the previous 50 years in Iowa, married, raised a family, etc. At his death his body was brought back to Steubenville where he had lived circa 1848-1855 for burial. He was also an immigrant from Ireland and had some very strong tie to Lillie because he is not buried with his wife or three children who died before he did. She was considerably younger and would have been a young girl when Joseph moved to Iowa. I am very curious to find out what their relationship was. Any help you can give would be greatly appreciated! I can be contacted at: Karla Staudt [email protected] . My address is RR#1, Box 14; Ticonderoga, NY 12883.
