Robert S. Dunbarr




Born in Island Creek Twp., Jefferson County, Ohio, September 23, 1819. Enlisted in Co. G, 52nd Reg't, O. V. Infantry, August 13, 1863, at Nashville, Tennessee by order of Gen. Rosecrans. Comrade Dunbarr was with his company and regiment from its going into the field, in Kentucky, engaging in the conflict at Big Hill and Perryville, in all the regiment's marches and counter-marches, in the offensive and defensive, against the rebel troops in Kentucky, went through the long and trying march to Louisville, held his place in the Company through to Nashville, where Comrade Dunbarr, after a short but very effective service, was discharged for disability. Comrade Dunbarr had a very willing heart to serve his full three years, but the flesh was weak and very reluctantly he accepted his discharge and seperated from the boys whose physical abilities were better than his.
