J. T. Scott

Born in Jefferson County, Ohio, September 25, 1844. Enlisted in Co. A, 5th Ohio Vol. Cav., at Alliance, O., March 1865. The Reg't. was then in North Carolina, at Charlotte, and was one of the famous Ohio Cavalry regiments. Always on the move, it almost seemed as though no important battle was made that did not include the 5th O. V. C., fighting on foot as well as on horseback, always ready, always willing. Comrade Scott joined them in North Carolina and from that until discharged was actively engaged in scouting and picket duty, and on October 30, 1865, the regiment was mustered out, after a long and arduous service. The members remaining then returned to the pursuits of civil life.

The pages were transcribed as they are in the actual 1887 book to which I
own. This book is rare and hard to come by which is why I decided to share the information in order to help those
searching for information on their descendant(s) listed in this book.
