Mrs. Hettie J. Tope Summoned by Death




Mrs. Hettie J. Tope, died Sunday at the Jewett homestead at Pottery Addition, where she was born. She was the widow of the late J. M. Tope and had been a former resident of Toronto and Steubenville. She was the daughter of Summer and Priscilla Jewett, pioneer residents of that section. Mrs. Tope had been in poor health for the past year.


She was a sister of Mrs. J. C. Ault and Frank P. Jewett, both deceased. These step-sons survive: Jefferson of Oregon; William in New York; Roy and Herman of Philadelphia. Herman was here at the time of her death.


Mrs. Tope was a member of Westminster Presbyterian church and a former member of Toronto Presbyterian church. She was an organizing member of the D.A.R. Her death will be a matter of regret to the many friends she had made during her long life in several communities.


Funeral services will be held at the Jewett residence Wednesday at 3 p.m. with interment in Toronto Union Cemetery.
