Mrs. Gertrude Hill Bennett

Mrs. Gertrude Hill Bennett, 83, of 1207 Oak Grove Ave., Steubenville, Ohio, died in the Ohio Valley Hospital, Thursday, August 27, 1964 at 5:10 p.m. Born in Rochester, Pa., July 9, 1881. Daughter of the late William J. and Ida Broady Hill. Member of Calvary Methodist Church, Steubenville Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution, Past Chaplain and past Regent of the D.A.R. Currently chairman of Real Grand Daughters Committee, Member Steubenville Tourist Club of the Federated Woman's Club, was 15th president of Tourist Club, Gold Star Mother American Legion Auxiliary. She is survived by 2 sons, Fred H. Bennett of Washington, Pa., Edward B. Bennett of Cleveland, Ohio; Sister, Mrs. W. A. (Clara) Fisher of Steubenville, Ohio, 5 grandsons and 1 great grandson.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John H. Bennett, April 1934; son, Colonel John Howard Bennett, killed in the Philippine Islands in World War 2; 2 brothers, William Hill and Fred Hill.
Friends may call at the McClave Funeral Home, today, 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.; Saturday, 10 a.m. until time of service. Funeral services in the McClave Chapel, Saturday, August 29, 1964 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Samuel Pollock officiating. Interment in Union Cemetery.
