Miss Ellen Howard Brown

Miss Ellen H. Brown, 90, of 407 Clinton St. died at 9:15 a.m. today in Ohio Calley Hospital. She had been ill and a patient since Dec. 31, 1958.
She was born Oct. 23, 1868, in Steubenville, the daughter of the late Reginald H. and Mary Whitney Brown.
Miss Brown was formerly employed by the Wheeling Steel Corp. for many years, having retired in 1945.
She was a member of Westminster United Presbyterian Church. At the time of the merger of the Second Presbyterian and First Presbyterian Churches to form the Westminster Church
, Miss Brown began to teach a Bible Class of young girls. She taught this class continuously for over 40 years. The class was one of her greatest interests. Several years ago the members
named the class in her honor, Ellen H. Brown Bible Class. Miss Brown was also a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Query Club.
Miss Brown leaves one sister, Mrs. H. W. Irons of Toronto; one nephew, Whitney Irons of Baltimore, Md., and one niece, Mrs. Herbert G. Rorer of Philadelphia. One brother, Leonard W. Brown, preceded her in death.
Friends may call at the McClave Funeral Home from noon to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday and from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in McClave Chapel. The Rev.
Dr. Lymann N. Lemmon will officiate. Burial will be in Union Cemetery.
